My AR is zeroed at 25 yards. That means the POI will match my POA at 300 yards also. So my zero is 25 yards/300 yards

In the class it was all iron sights. NO sight adjustments made, just using Kentucky Windage.

I am buying a .308 this year, and am looking forward to picking a scope and actually learning to make changes to the scope at different ranges.

I have been enlightend to zeroing my AR at 50yards, though. It makes a little more sense for LE applications. That's another (long) story, though. I don't feel like typing it all tonight. Sorry.

lol Thats what I was thinkin.....Just wanted to make sure.

hey Switch, a couple of guys had red dots, but the dot is like 4 MOA. Thats 12 inches at 300 yards, right? Wouldn't it be hard to make small KW adjustments at 12 MOA.

I hear the EoTech has a smaller dot for distance shooting. Are you familiar with and do you have any opinions on those devices?

The AImpoint is 3 or 4 minutes. The dot is huge at 300 yards! It's fast for CQB, but precision shooting at distance can be difficult. I have the aimpoint on my issued MP5 and AR.

On my personally owned AR, I have the EoTech. I love it! The dot is 1 MOA, which is great for precision shooting at longer distances. However, it is harder to pick up for CQB. That is where the 72MOA circle that surrounds it comes into play. It's an AWESOME sight!

A tip for red dot sights... dial them down in brightness to where you can pick them up fast, but can see through them. This is especially important with the aimpoint, where the sightmay go from shoulder to shoulder on a sillouette at 400 yards. Seeing through the dot will allow you to center it on targets a bit easier. Again, keep it bright enough to where you will not "lose" your sight.

FYI, I have cleaned the military pop up courses with both guns with little concentration. They are both super fast. The battery life is better with the Aimpoint, but I am not in a war zone with poor supply chains. I chose the EoTech for the versatility... also, the viweing area is alittle larger, making shooting with a ask on a bit easier... gsa mask, not the holloween type. hehehee

I am familiar with the Remington. Never shot one....yet. I was thinking a M1A also.

    I'll look up the Nightforce.

Excellent tips Switch. Thanks. With you zeroed on your AR at 50 yards, how low do you hold at 25 yards

I rode along with Braselton PD (a small town PD not far from where I live) not to long ago. They issue everyone of there officers H&K G-36's(SWEET!!!) and the site on the rifle was some kind of holographic site. (The officer I rode with showed me his rifle.... It was pretty awesome.) The site's reticle was a circle with crosshairs in it. I don't remember the make of the site though. I just had to share that.... :D
