When's Chow?

hey,

I was really interested in all the replies regarding different shifts and all that trash..but one thing no one mentioned is how chow time is rationed out? Do you normally get a square hour, or two half hour breaks, two fifteens, or just one half hour when you can call out of service....

What's chow time? :D

We don't have set times for breaks, if it's not busy and we get a chance, we can eat, but we're still expected to take calls even if we haven't taken our first bite yet. I have abandoned many full plates...

We get set times but it never happens that way, try and take it when its quiet then bolt it down your neck before you get turned out.

We do NOT get a guaranteed lunch break. If we aren't busy, an officer can take a half hour to eat but they can be called back if needed with no warning. Officers that live in our jurisdiction can go home to eat, others like me go to the station or somewhere else.

I wish I had a nickel for every hot meal I had to leave on a table to answer a call.....

we get docked 45min for lunch every day and I always take it no matter what. No set times but it there.

We get a paid 30min meal break which we try and streach out to an hour. The 30mins starts as soon as we get cleared, so you can imagine with driving, then ordering, then waiting and getting your food, the 30mins is almost up.

It's not garunteed though and because it's paid, they don't have to give it to us, if its too busy.

When we can and as long as it takes to get it down your neck. If a call comes in and none else is available you just go and leave the food.

If it's an urgent assistance call EVERYONE goes.
