I am a masters student at john jay in new york and am doing research on why some officers choose to stay in uniform until they retire instead of advancing to various departments. just looking for some feedback and reasons!

you can still take on 'specialties' and remain in the streets which keeps things interesting as well.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.
For the flip side, I chose to move off the street into CID because I wanted the challenge of using my head to solve cases (vice being the first uniform to show up).
What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?

I was able to get promoted to patrol Sgt, and although I do some desk work I turned down the Det. Sgt. slot because I still like the street.
