Are you worried about it? Are you excited about it?

A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.

In my first academy, they made us box a lot. They said it was so people who had never been hit in their life would know what if felt like to have your bell rung. I had been hit before so that was not new.
I had not, however, ever broken my nose, so I did get to see what that felt like. :D

I'd be willing to give my left arm to box about 1/4 of my department.
We boxed all the time on top of our other PT and self defense training. Quite entertaining to see someone who was 5'4" and weighed about a buck 10 go up against someone 6'3" 220.
Im not gonna lie I am definitly worried about what you gotta do durring the boxing. I mean Im gonna do it obviosly but how intense is it and how hard is it to do. I mean Im not tryin to get a broken nose like the other guy. Its probably the thing Im most worried about going into the academy. Its not scary thinking abouyt doing it on the street but getting put in a ring and saying go isnt to good considering your not mad at the guy across from you for any reason
I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty hard to do 20 years in law enforcement and not take some lumps. It is a very physical activity at times and maybe they have boxing at the academies just to make sure everyone knows that. :D

You'll be plenty angry after your opponent lands a couple good hits on you and then all you'll think about is hitting them as hard as you can.Originally Posted by dercoderco
I did it when I went through. But you have to remember that it was a long time ago when it was considered unmanly to boot someone in the nuts and call it martial arts. If you do have to box just be sure and get someone who doesn't go off their head when you land a good one on them - it's not nice when they go off their head at you :D
