May I see your license and proof of insurance, officer?

Has anyone here been off duty and pulled over for a driving infraction, or pulled another LEO over for a driving infraction...and if so, what were the circumstances? Did you issue a ticket (or were issued one)...or did it come up in conversation that you're both LEO's?

I've been told that LEO's are not to issue other LEO's tickets (of course depending on circumstances)...but if that's the case, what do they (or you) say or do? "Hey, I'm a cop too...here's my badge"...it would seem almost like you're trying to weasle out of it and might look like a bit of a fool for trying so...

I could be wrong...just curious if it's ever happened.

In 5 years I got pulled over once for 10MPH over. I put both hands on the steering wheel rolled down my window and waited for his approach. When he asked me for all of my identifying information, I told him "for my safety and for yours, I wanted to let you know that I'm carrying my off duty weapon with me tonight and it's over there. That's how I handled that time and any other time in the future if I got stopped. That struck up a conversation of where I worked and so forth. It was a neighboring agency so we have a good relationship. The officer actually apologized for pulling me over, but I insisted it was my driving and not his fault. I was not cited.

I've pulled over a wide gammet of LEO's from officers, to deputies, to custom's agents to FBI agents. You name it, I've probably stopped it. It usually goes very well. An apology and by the way I work for (fill in the blank) agency. I would NEVER cite another LEO. Period. I usually ask for their ID just to make sure they're not playing a game and once I see it, it's have nice day...
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

You should never say never! I used too and one day an arrogant pr*** proved me wrong. I think professional courtesy is a great thing but it shouldn't be demanded...ever!

I never have and very likely never will ever try to do a traffic stop in my POV. I have gotten reg numbers and informed the very tailgating driver that they will be hearing from the pd.

Professional courtesy is alive and well but is NOT a certainty. I did cite an off duty officer who had a BAD reaction to getting pulled over.
