I rec'd one week of officer safety, which entailed most aspects of the job. Traffic Stop safety was one day, building searches was two days, the rest of safety issues were crammed in along with the classroom hours.
Our Justice Academy has more detailed Officer Safety Courses which are continuing ed course.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.
It really depends on the Academy and the Length of that academy. When there is more time in the Academy, there is more time for scenarios.
In SF's academy we did 4.
A regular traffic stop. A night traffic stop. A DUI stop. A felony car stop.
That's pretty much it.
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.
In SC I dont recall spending alot of time on traffic stops. However we did tons scenarios on house calls. But I could just not remember. Was almost 8 years ago.

We spent quite a bit of time on them, the instructors threw things in to mess with you and see how you react.
You will learn much more on FTO than you do in the academy, and it takes quite a while to develop a routine for yourself.
The most important thing I learned, I had to teach myself, and that is there is no single right way to do anything. Just use your head and consider the safety of everyone involved.
