    .500 S&W Magnum.

This firearm has been around for a little while, and I am just a little curious about the effect it has had on law enforcement. Has anyone checked to make sure that the kevlar will still stop it? I know that police officers have good gear, but those .500s are scary powerful.

I am sure that the kevlar vest will stop a .44 and leave a good bruise, but the new .500s are a whole lot more powerful, according to Smith-Wesson.

Please don't think badly of me for asking, but I just want to get an idea of any new safety measures that these powerhouse have brought on.

I doubt a criminal would have one, they are so new the ammo is super expensive still. On the other side of the coin, drug dealers often have quite a bit of money.

Typically people who have BIG guns buy them more to show off by flashing them around and don't spend much time practicing with it. The recoil has to be huge. I'll get an extra shot or two in before they can recover.

I try not and worry about handguns too much. The way these idiots aim them by holding them sideways as well as the 'zero' training they've had is to my benefit.

What DOES worry me is these guys in the projects with fully auto tech-9's, MAC-10's and worse...AK-47's and M-16's. You don't even have to aim with those...just spray and pray...
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.

i stopped a girl and had to get her to exit the car. when she did, i saw a .500 S&W round laying on the seat where she'd been sitting. i initially thought it was a, umm, feminine toy or something. that thing was big.

How many full autos have you confiscated in your career?

Do your maggots know a Class 3 dealer they are getting the full-auto weapons from? I've never heard of such a thing.

a popsicle stick or a rolled up piece of paper will set an AK up with full-auto. parts are readily available for about $25 to convert one.

I've never seen a .500 in the street, and have definitely never encountered any full auto weapon in the hands of a thug. The most common guns I confiscate are .22 pistols by far, and an occasional sawed off shotgun.

Only one MAC-10. I don't mean to come across as someone with a handgun doesn't present a clear and present danger. They do.

I'm not sure how many of you heard. But I want to say it was about 3 months ago now in San Francisco's BayView district. Two plain clothes police officers go to talk to a guy wearing a trench coat. As they get out of the car and approach he opens fire with an AK and the rounds go right through his vest. Needless to say, he is no longer with us.

I work right next to the Sunnydale projects. They got wind of this killing and thought it would be a good idea to go out and kill a cop to increase their gang's stature. Armed with full auto's and an intent to kill..wonderful. At least three times a week there are shots fired in these projects and casings of .308's and .223 rounds found. Takes a lot to stop one of those rounds and that's why I said they worry me a lot more than handguns.

The reason I'm asking is I've confiscated tons of semi autos in my career. I have only confiscated ONE fully automatic rifle. And that one was pieced together from parts and drilled. I have never seen or heard of any Class III weapon being used in a crime or falling into the wrong hands. I just want to make sure its not semi auto rifles that are being used and called "fully automatic." Just because its an AK or AR clone, doesn't mean its full auto capable.

My condolences for the loss of your officer.
