Police Academy PT...Does it involve More Running than Circuit Training?

    Hi,

currently a cpd academy recruit. Been thru USMC Officer Candidates School training and would like it if any prior military LEO's would give me a
heads up on the severity of training...at OCS, we had to run 18:00 3 miles in order to be competitive..i ran 19:20..thinking back a couple of years when I trained for that, I realize thats pretty damn fast! I dont do as much running now due to the fact that i just plain lose too much muscle if i do...i'll be in a police academy class as of Nov 1..should I be running as much as I was required for USMC OCS?

    Oorrah!

    Oorrah!

oo-rah devil dog! i ran the 3 miles in 18 minutes only once in my usmc career! i threw up for 5 minutes after! i dont beleive that you will be required to meet those standards in any academy for police. i could be wrong, but i doubt it would be that stringent. stay in shape, and excercise and you should be fine. good luck
I do what I can do when I can do it.

    At our academy, we alternated.

    Mon, Wed, Fri = Running
    Tue, Thu = Circuit Training
