Question Is it ok to ask?

I have, in the past, (and on occasion) had a heavy foot. I have (since 16) had about 6-8 speeding tickets. I know this is not good behavior but I can say I have never hurt anyone or even been involed in a MVA.

I have always wondered though, when a person gets pulled over for speeding and after the LEO gives the "You were doing 75 in a 65mph zone", can the violator ask to see the radar display stating the offense?

I only ask because I have been in a few ride alongs with a friend in Illinois and noticed a few things.

    1. He had to turn his PV off because the radiator fan was causing the radar to go crazy.

    2. When he would radar a group of cars, he would visually pick which car was the "violator".

I have observed that it is not always as easy as the person passing in the fast lane is the one speeding.

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

You can ask anything, but he/she does not have to show you.

Yes, sometimes fans cause interference, but it is minute and the target will over ride that false reading. (Bigger Object)

A radar reading is only cooberation to the Officer's Opinion. Anyone can tell which car is going faster.

[QUOTE=acreature]You can ask anything, but he/she does not have to show you./QUOTE]

    One example,

I was (which I almost always do) driving with the cruise set at about 67-68mph. I was coming up on a semi which I needed to pass. I looked in the rear view (which is clear), and procceded into the "fast" lane to pass. As I got about half way past the semi I look in the rear view again and there is a car right on my ***. I mean IN it![this is where a LEO it sitting in the median] (I'm sure this has happened to others as I have seen it alot) I speed up and get past the semi and get over. The car speeds past me and low and behold, I get pulled over and ticketed for speeding which I did to get past the semi and to distance myself from the hazard which was crawling up my tailpipe.

I tried to explain this to the LEO but he I think took it as a feeble excuse.

And I wonder why did the ***-rider not get caught? And i know he probably will down the line somewhere.

...just talking out of my ***. :D

Even if passing, speeding is still illegal.

I wasn't there, so I could not answer for the LEO.

as mentioned before showing the radar reading to the offender is not required. i have found that if and when i do show the offender the radar reading, the only thing that happens is that they argue even more.
I do what I can do when I can do it.

I can imagine that. Just wondering about the policies of allowing the offender to see it.

I personally NEVER "held" the target speed.

There was always enough other things going on that I didnt ride around with my finger on the hold button...
What is your major malfunction, numbnuts? Didn't Mommy and Daddy show you enough attention when you were a child?

It's optional for us. I use a hand held radar which locks in the speed. During daylight, I usually tuck it under my arm and then show them during my conversation with them. Not too many questions asked after they see their speed in those bright red blinking numbers.. BTW, I think the people that made the radar did that especially for an influence effect..
Be advised, I'm mean nasty and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm and I could put a round through a fleas *** at 300 yards. So why don't you hump somebody else's leg mutt-face before I push yours in.
