We deal with these clowns all the time. All tricked out in their Bail Enforcement Gear. They Even Refer to themselves as special agent.
They do tend to get royally PO'd when we won't give them mug shots, or let em into the S.O. with their "arrest" to finish their "reports".
" Cuz I'm in LE too.....come on guys."
Always good for a laugh. Yeah give us your prisoner and bu bye.

Hey Wheres the clown that thinks him and Switch do the same job? :D
Run you cur! You tell all the other curs the laws comin! You tell em I'm comin! And Hells comin with me!

ok nevermind, i guess important questions dont get reacted to very well on here, i thought this was a genuine question and although maybe the bail bonds profession is something that certain LEO's appear to look down on i dont see how my question and enquiry for help was so comical.
    Thankyou anyway.

As you yourself said, you've been a mamber here "for awhile", so you should know the reputation that so-called bail enforcement slugs have on this board. Since you're only 19 and can't decide whether to move back to the UK and be a cop there, or stay in Florida and get citizenship and be a cop here, why are you even thinking bail enforcement? BTW, the large font isn't needed. We can read just fine.

I think that guy on the show is a f**ckin moron. It is not a liked profession by LE because they are usually LEO wannabees that can't gain an LEO job because of prior convictions.

There are probably a few legit bail agents out there, but a good majority of them that are idiots hurt the select few.

no offense guys, but my interest in whether "bounty hunters" are cool is of no importance. i was simply enquiring on somethin involved in the field of criminal justice, i dont see what is so wrong or so hard to understand as a person enquiring on information on how to make a decent living, i would love to hear and USEFULL information instead of opinions on geezers who obviously make a living on showing a somewhat untruthful side to the bail enforcement business, EG DOG THE BOUNTY HUNTER AND FAMILY BONDS.
I have no interest in these shows, i am just a young guy looking for options in the field i am extremely interested in, any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Leigh Smith.

PS-txinvestigater- i am no poser m8, let that be made clear.
    cheers.

I shall try to give you a serious reply. Most of the people on this board are just tired of debating the topic with people who ask about it because they think it's "cool". It really should be a respected profession, unfortunately it's not anymore. People like "Dog" don't help the cause either. Most of them are in it because they get to carry a meaningless badge and act like a cop, although they have no authority.

If you want to do it, fine, each state has diffenent requirements and it would be best to ask someone who does it in your state. I have heard of very few bounty hunters making much money. In fact, I don't see how they do anything but lose money. If you want a real respectable law enforcement position, be a cop. If you just like hunting people down, get a degree and join the Marshals.

I was asked to post the contents of a PM from DeathNova here to help out the original poster. He seems to be a reaonable bondsman and you may want to PM him for additional info. (Standard TV infomercial disclaimer about how this post does not necessarily reflect my opinion)

    - The "acting like law enforcement," carrying a badge, etc. is only a tactic used to coerce fugitives into custody. When questioned, we always explain the exact nature of our position and make it clear that we are enforcing civil contracts, *not* criminal.

    - "Dog" is an actor.

    - We are paid very, very little. A new recruit would be fortunate to earn back the cost of his equipment.

    - Our agency does not accept agents with any felony convictions or recent misdemeanor convictions. If you are ineligible to apply for a CWP, you are not considered. Period.

    - Lastly, its unfortunate that anyone and their house pets can go on the internet, purchase agent gear, and go around "acting cool." This activity is not condoned.

I hope this has been at least somewhat insightful and could be useful to those less experienced with the bail bond profession.
