    Question Vision standards

    I just went through a 2.5-year selection process, and at the last minute was not selected. Even though the DQ letter was a form letter, I was told I did not meet the "vision standards." What is considered to be normal depth perception, and is it standard for all agencies or are there varying qualifications in respect to this?

    Depends. For instance, in St. Louis County PD you must have no less than 20/80 uncorrected to be hired. So that put me out. The agency I work for now, could care less as long as it is corrected to 20/20.

    I recently got LASIK done, and have 20/20 vision. It was well worth because you don't want to get your glasses knocked off in a fight.
