See the good thing is that if you assult a security person that is 330 certified then well you might as well hit a cop because it's the same charge.

Either way they better bring their A game or they are in for a world of ****.

Sorry, I had to paste this here. I didn't know how to make a link.

Anyways, what exactly is 330 certified? How would a civilian know a security person was 330? And why is hitting a 330 the same as assaulting an officer and not a civilian?

Darrel has explained before, I am sure he can do better than I.

Regarding the assault; Texas increased the penalty for assaulting a security guard to the same level as assaulting a LEO. Seems to be a nationwide trend.

So if you get into a tussle with a security guard at Toys R Us, its the same as assaulting a cop. Not to knock down security people, but doesn't that kinda diminish the seriousness of assaulting a police officer?

Darrell, do you have a link to your explanation?

In NC, it is impossible to dimish a misdemeanor anymore than it already is.

Unless it is made to a pre-payable Infraction.

Think of this on a level format:

There is a police officer - highest level.

330 people are security police officers - middle level.

There is security guard - lower level.

Basically it means that a private security officer may detain and arrest for misdemeanors on his private property. He is a police officer for all intents and purposes on property. Off the property his powers vanish.

People in general do not know what a 330 officer is, but the point is that a person should respect anyone in an enforcement position. Yes, assault on a security officer carries the same in Michigan. Their badges say "security police" on them. They also must identify themselves if they are writing a ticket or arresting someone. "under act 330 I am doing such and such"

330 officers are trained by the state and have a form of academy that they go to. They get training on laws, enforcement, and weapons training. Some carry weapons, some do not. IMO they ALL should be carrying. In darrell's case he could, but his college chooses not to. Unfortunate, because darrell deals with drugs and fights and anything in between.

All of this, in my eyes makes darrell just as much a brother of mine than any other officer. I also think he should be verified on here, he knows as much as anyone else, if not more, about the laws in michigan. He has never gave false info on here, and never been wrong on ask a cop yet. (well his opinions may vary). :D

Those who think less of 330 officers should be ashamed of themselves and need to look at their own shortcomings before others.

Not really. Society is finally trying to increase the quality of persons who are in the industry. Providing better legal protection for them is one way for society to do that.
