MI Window tint & tint supplier q

Ever since a ridealong with a local officer who hated tints with a passion, I've noticed how many vehicles have illegal tints around here. Some are obviously self-installed, but quite a few look like professional installs.

Can auto glass or custom shops get in trouble for installing an illegal tint? Do you ever do small sting operations on them when things are slow, or are they a ways down on your priority list compared to other operations?

IN my state, installers of illegal equipment can and have been charged. Some have been knownto have their customers sign a "waiver" that the tint MAY not be legal and that they are accepting the risk of a ticket by having it put on. That is a great piece of evidence to have in case they want to go to court.

No, its not illegal to install it. It is just like me installing blue lights on your car, I can do it.

The problem is when someone operates the vehicle on a roadway that matters.
