It's a matter of wanting to minimize all weapons in the courthouse. They prefer to haveit as sterile as possible.

It's not all LE that is the problem. However, you know that everyagency has goofs that are irresponsible in their gunhandling (concealement, retention, etc) The Service would hardly feel comfortable singling out people from other agencies that are sloppy in this regard.... on the other hand, they would prefer that that gun not be taken and used against us or someone else.

Conversely, the Marshal Service has no qualms with telling our own idiots to clean up their act.

It's all about the path of least resistance, while trying to keep things safe. Knowing howpolicies are made, I would bet most emphasis is placed on the "path of least resistance."

I have worked in some that made me check mine and some that didn't. And, some that made me check it or not check it after they asked me what I was there for.

The weirdest one is Broward County Courthouse where the guards have decided that federal agents assigned to Broward County can carry their weapon into the courthouse but federal agents assigned to other counties must check theirs. Since our creds say nothing about where we are assigned, this is strictly on the honor system. :D

And the three times I have been to the White House, they also made me check my weapon. And, one time when President Bush 1 came to Quantico when I was there, the Secret Service went to all of the ranges and made everyone bench their weapons while Marine 1 flew over.
