Sorta Torn Here....

I have a friend that I know is selling marijuana...and it's in school at that! But the problem is that our police officer there won't search him, and he hasn't even tried to catch him. This kid is selling a lot of weed...and I really wanna do something about it...is there anything that I can do about it? He's my friend and all...but what he's doing is wrong.

I have...but they just don't listen...they basically say that unless they catch him in the act....then it's too bad...

One thing you have to learn about being a minor is that you are not going to be able to change the world. Believe me, I know how you feel about this situation. I've been in the neighborhood watch for a long time, and there have been several instances where I wanted to do something, but couldn't either because no one would help, or because I found out that one person can't do it by themselves. You're heart is in the right place, but just remember that sometimes, they just get away with it. Just keep in mind the old addage, "what goes around, comes around" and you'll feel a lot better. They have it coming to them one day, all you have to do is wait. Now, with that being said, you go ahead and continue to get something done, all I'm saying is don't get so involved with it that you it crushes you if it doesn't work out right away.

Hey WPD, I'm not LEO, but I would like to help.

May I suggest that you don't do anything? You've already told who you need to. If you pursue it any more, the situation could turn around on you. What goes around definitely comes around, and he will get his. Believe that.

I'm assuming that you are in high school also. Just to let you know, when school is over, everyone who deserves it, gets theirs. It's a definite!

If you want to be a Cop when you grow up, you'll will do everything you legally can to get criminals off of the street. Without worrying about repercussions. Don't be a Puss as others would have you be.

If you are totally satisfied that you told the proper authorities in the school and they wouldnt listen try this. First of all mention to them that the school is goverment property and by anyone coming onto the campus they are subject to be searched. If they still dont listen notify your local narc unit. They would love to bust someone selling in school.

Merely telling someone ( school admin or the cops) is typically vague, having some detailed info on where exactly he sells, how muxh he sells, how much he charges, who he sells to, how does he get to school ( car or bus) is the type of info that infers that you have some SERIOUS knowledge of what is going on. And, they susally will take more notice of your info being reliable.

does your school district not do dog searches with your local authorities every once in a while, when notified of possible drugs/weapons. I know ours does.

If you know about it and don't act, you're guilty too. Tell the school authorities.

No offense DC but the kid did come here for help, and he stated that the school cop isn't doing anything about it. Why would you tell him if he doesn't act he is guilty too.

My school doesn't seem to care if people are selling drugs. And yeah, I do have very detailed information that I've tried to give them...but they don't listen to me. I've never though about talking to my local pd...thats a good idea.

He comes to school on a bus...therefore he most likely transports it that way.

While I understand what your saying...doing nothing would just allow him to sell more and more and make him think that it was ok to do it...also it could make him get cocky perhaps..and he'd slip up one of these times..and sell it to the wrong person. And I don't care what I have to do (Just as long as I don't actually break the law myself here)...I wanna stop him. But it isn't easy when you have school admins who will just turn their back, and look the other way on issues like this.

I'm sure if you bring this up to your school district, they probably wouldn't even risk 'not' looking into the charges.

But they'd probably just contact the school administrators anyhow...is there anything other than my story that I should tell my local pd?

dude, your chain of command stops at your principle. Anything he can't/won't do you go straight to the damn schoolboard chairperson. either way, it's criminal activity your talking about. report it to the damn police. Whether it's your local authorities, or if your schoolboard has their own police department, if you don't tell someone that can and WILL do something; it'll be like you're helping the dealer (like dc was eluding to). Call your police, and tell them what you need to. I'm a student, I know of drug activity through first hand information at my school, I've told my school officials, and I don't think they are handling it correctly, I want this stopped, I don't believe in drugs at school, etc etc Please do what you can, dogs, surveilance, whatever. If you tell someone with true power, they wouldn't dare 'not' act.

Even if I had pictures...that would be disputable because I think i'd have to be close enough to verify the substance within...right? How is me trying to stop them, helping the dealer? I don't exactly understand how this is so. I'm trying to stop..but what am I supposed to do...cuff him and throw him on the ground! I'm also tired of school officials not listening...if they would JUST search him...they'd find it...and they'd be able to bust the people he sold to, and the person he buys from... Damn I can't believe how stupid some people (not anyone here, the school officials) can be.
