If I wear white socks instead of the mandated black socks, does that mean I have to hop around on one foot whenever i get out of my car? And can I still legally shoot with my right hand, or do I only have the authority to shoot with my left? I can't find it in my policy manual, maybe you can enlighten me, Yeddy321.

I am from pa, and I am a cadet in the police academy, and it does not matter if he is in his car he does not even have to be on duty and can give you a ticket your best bet is just to pay the ticket.

    Absolutly!
I as a Police officer both in the civilian world and in the military have issued moving voilation tickets without being in my car. The patrol car is only a tool used in law enforcement. Reckless driving can mean many things. He certainly could not issue a speeding without having some type of tool (ie, radar gun, pace method, vascar) to tell him that you were speeding.

OK....I can tell you in Tennessee....A cop is a cop 24/7. I've written citations and worked an accident or two , off duty, out of uniform, as well as on my way to work or home from work, in uniform , in my truck. My truck, however, is equipped with emergency lights. I do however, go armed and have ID on me at all times.
I don't go looking for things to do, since I value my time off, BUT if something happens that requires my attention, directly in my proximity, I act. By Tennessee statute, Law enforcement officers, if witness to a crime, are required to act, as well as Memphis Police policy and procedure. So I can only guess that whatever you did, caught his attention without trying....next time. don't do something that draws attention to you.

You said you weren't driving carelessly, yet if you are 200ft away or however many feet you were, that is close enough to a soccer field. Usually, soccer fields are public areas and tend to have a lot of people in them. If you were speeding through a school zone, regardless if the school zone was in effect, you could still get a ticket for careless driving. Just b/c you didnt see anyone around, doesn't mean they weren't there. Frankly, someone with an attitude like yours probably deserves a ticket. Just think of all those other times you got away with things...Im sure it adds up, eh?
