    Question radar gun/ticket

I was pulled over yesterday, and the officer said I was speeding. However, I disagree with him because other cars were passing me and I was going the speed limit. I believe this is a racial profiling case because the people that passed me were white and I am a rough looking black male besides that I was not speeding...the other car that passed me was. Anyway, the officer said he clocked me at 57 in a 35(which couldn't have been true) and thus I asked to see the speed on the gun....in which the officer angerly replied "We aren't suppose to show you that"....is that true??? I plan on getting a lawyer and fighting the ticket, but I was wondering if his statement was true.

First off you need to jump into reality for one minute. Racial profiling is a bull**** charge started by the ACLU. Sure it's all fine and dandy to profile at treain stations, airports, bus stations, and sea ports but heaven forbid they profile for a serial killer that just pisses everyone off. In fact in most states it is illegal for any officer to show the violater the speed read out on their measuring device. As for you being the only one going the speed limit I find that very difficult to believe yet impossible. Fight the ticket with a lawyer but I suggest that you not bring up racial profiling in court unless you want to pay for it by pissing off the cop and the judge. If you think you were profiled then file a complaint with DPS and not the local agency. Also hwo do you know all the vehicles that passed you were of caucasian decent (white)? What race was the officer? Agruing with the officer is one way to get bent over a table and screwed hard on a ticket and in court. Also MPD makes their officers show up in court or they get suspended, that i know when my cousin was stopped there. Slow down, and don't use excuses as to why you were stopped in the first place.

Most departments don't allow people to view it for safety reasons. First, you could be injured by a passing motorist, in which cae the officer is responsioble for you. Second, you could pose a threat to the officer. Either way, you are both safer when you are in your car.

It's rare that I let a motorist see the radar display.

They passed me...I saw them in the rearview as they were approaching me as well as I glanced at them when they passed. Also, the officer was white. I didn't argue with him, but I don't agree with what he says and I will have my say in court.

Alright just don't be surprised to have the judge know you out of court and have you pay the full fine. They are starting to get sick and tired of all the people claiming they are racialy profiled.

My pet peeve is those who use the race card when they get in trouble. I don't know if you're guilty or not, but it is highly unlikely the officer was racial profiling. Man up and accept responsibility.

I know a officer that when he stops a minority and they ***** about profiling he wil lnot give them a break he only write them the full shot and says here ya go and be on your way. The one's that are nice get some slack.

Profiling was told by a FBI agent on Dateline one night as stopping minority motorists for purposes other then a ticket or civil infraction. More so just to try to see if they can get into your car. It's the time that you get stopped and don't get a ticket is when you should suspect your bing profiled.

If they're were other cars present, the officer will have to explain in court how he got you at your speed. I'm not saying your allegation isn't true, but I can tell you that no one has ever prevailed in court that used that as a defense that I've seen (on tickets). You will need to fight it by asking for certain things like how did he determine it was your car and not someone elses (as it can only lock on one car at a time), is he radar certified, etc.

I have to agree with this. I get immediately pissed off if someone accuses me of stopping them only because they are black, and will write the full shot. This applies to anyone who accuses me of something as an excuse to get out of the ticket.

there is no law in Texas that requires an officer to provide you with evidence before trial. NO HE DOES NOT HAVE TO SHOW YOU THE RADAR.

Racial profiling? You drop that card rather easily. Maybe it was gender profiling; maybe the cop hates men!

Heres something that you Ladreamer did not touch on. How do you even know where and when the officer took the radar measurement. Most people don't even see me and I "hide in plain sight." Perhaps he used Lidar, which can pick individual vehicles. You are going to have a hard time proving your case Ladreamer.
I love when people accuse me of racial profiling at night. I just direct their attention down the road at oncoming traffic. "Sir/ma'am, what color are the people in that approaching car?"
"I don't know, its dark out."
"Exactly, how do you expect me to know what they color they are? Sign in the red box, please, signing is not an admission of guilt....."
I have had more than one person reply after the above, well you're the police, you should know.

Its hard to drive with night vision on and besides everyone turns green. :D

Stopped a guy one day with windows so dark I could just barely see his outline as he passed me at 55. He was black. I wrote him a warning citation. He still complained saying it was racially motivated.
