    Maryland State Police Vehicles

I was wondering if they have computers in them? I've glanced at my neighbors car, he is a trooper, and ive never noticed a computer. Do you take them out when your not on duty to prevent theft or do the MDSP just not have them?
Also, I'll be starting college soon and getting my degree in CJ, so when I'm 21 I will have a degree and of course will make me look better to the recruiters. Well what happens if I don't get accepted into the police department, what will I do with a CJ degree? Is that just a chance I take? I would think that me getting a degree in it would show some determination and dedication to doing this, and also I was about 300lbs and ive lost a bunch of weight and am down to about 220 and I'm about 6 foot 2. I still have more to lose, but this is something I want to do. I'm just trying to figure out other ways to set myself apart from the rest and make myself look better to the recruiters. Thanks everyone!

Keep working on the weight. I was 300 at 5'10" now I am 225 so I know what your going through there. Keep your nose clean and pick your friends wisely. It also helps if you do some volenteer or community service type of work once in a while to put on your resume. Good Luck I hear nothing but good things of the Maryland Troops.

As darrell says keep working on the weight, however as long as you can run two miles and still fight at the end don't panic. I'm 6'01" and 262lb can still run Mile and a half (can't fight much at the end I just fall on 'em!).

More and more people are coming to the job with a degree of one sort or another, just shows you're not a thicko and are capable of learning the legislation and procedures.

Volunteer work is good over here showing you really want to do something for the community, it's got to be same over there.

Also as Darrell said, "Pick your nose clean, keep your friends wisely" or was it the other way round? :D

    Anyway good luck.

602 and 220 is a great ratio. As long as you strength train. I'd stay there with a good heavy workout.

I myself am about the same. Working on the heavy workouts too.

Some cops i know with "take homes" do take out their laptop and shotgun, etc. for various reasons. Safety, liability. I imagine you could type out a few reports and upload them from the car later.

THere are plenty of things you can do with a CJ degree. You can teach CJ in a college, be a director of security (some actually make more than cops), corrections, oh and yeah, you can always drive an ice cream truck!

Thanks for the support guys, I'm still working on the weight and the whole physical aspect of it. I know MDSP has many volunteers, for non-criminal fingerprinting and whatnot so I'll look into that because they have a barracks very close to my house. I really do appreciate the support and knowledge you guys and ladies bring, because it's nice to have questions answered.
And with the friends topic, that is an interesting story. These idiots drink every single day, all underage, and I just don't have patience for it, so I no longer hang out with them. Now I stick with my one really good friend I've had for years. I'm happy to say I've never drank and drive, I'd even take a polygraph to prove it. I just realize that if this is something I want to do so I need to be careful, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes.
I have had one ticket, non moving violation it was a repair ticket so my driving record is good too. Plus already I work for the government so I have to be on good behavior as far as drugs/alcohol and how I drive.
Well once again, thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it.
