Bears and Self Defense

Here's a question for you guys. If I'm creeping around the woods and a bear charges me and I stick him I know the first thing I should do is call the state police? Being that bear season doesn't start untill Aug.1st and I do have a license and tag would I get in trouble or have to tag the thing?

I suspect the Game Commission or poss the State Police. I don't think you get to keep a wild animal that charges you and you have to kill it as self defense. Not positive on this though, but if you tag it, your tag is gone, esp. if you can't keep it.

Just admit it, you want to cheat and go out and get your bear early so your going to go into the woods hoping to piss off a bear in order to kill it under self defense? hahahaha, j/k

I'm scouting! Sneakin around the bush! I scared up a small band of Elk this morning and thought, Oh Crap! That could have been a Bear!! Bear season starts Aug.1st so a scoutin is what Im doin! I've just started to bring my bow with me just in case I do spook a bear up, one was giving me some warning barks last week so......
I'll be ok once I'm in my tree stand but if something did happen I think by law I would have to call the state police and report it, right?

Now thats a silly statement. Why would anyone walk in the woods without a way to defend themselves. I bet thoses people in Cali gettin attacked by mountain lions wish they had a weapon. My "woods" gun is a S&W M629.

Did anyone else hear about the surfer about 2 weeks ago, who was attacked by a grey shark I think it was, while he was paddling out, he fought back & ended up beating the shark to death with his fist, now he is facing charges for 'killing protected wildlife'...jeez talk about having a ..bogus wave day dude!

Bears do not like:
1) the pitter-patter of Birkenstocks through their blueberry patch
2) same foot traffic wherever they fish
3) ditto around their cubs no matter how "cute" they are

Bears do like:
1) dining on your pet that you take along for it's 'wilderness experience'
2) dining on whatever food you carelessly store
3) dining on litter
4) breaking into coolers, tents, cars, sleeping bags, or where the smell of some good food brings them

Bears are like people
1) they defend their "turf"
2) they like to eat, esp. if it's free, or someone else pays
3) they take more than they can eat (like Morrison's or Luby's)
4) they are lazy
5) they are drawn to food like lawyers are drawn to money
6) they dont intentionally eat Birkenstocks, it's only the wrapper

Bears are unlike people
1) the way they settle their disputes and set their boundaries, without having lawyers or committee meetings
2) bears can discipline their young without some liberal social worker screaming "time out", then calling the cops
3) adult bears are empowered with full authority under the "law of the wilderness" and take the law into their own ...teeth, claws

I wonder if that is true here in Michigan. My step-mother claimes that she hears it every so often. She says it is known that Bigfoot lives in her area. I however think she is looney.

And I am a scout leader so do I have to kill something? Goodness I hope not! Well, fish yea but a bear. Ick. Why oh why did I get volunteered for this? I should have ran instead I signed the papers.

My uncle hunts bear, I guess it's an adrenaline rush. I bet they taste like sh1t.
Around here we have so much deer, all the rednecks sign up on this sheet where they get called by the police if some car smokes a deer so they can pick it up and eat it. Hey, whatever floats your boat :D

My intention with that sentence was the able to kill a bear part. Walking around with a bow or handgun, compared to scouting with a .30/06 etc. I wasnt aware of what he was carrying...

Well, dang! A legend in the makin!! It was however a big *** Buck that I killed with my bare hands though, well, I had help from my Kershaw.... :D
Bear is the best tasting natural non bovine injected zero genetically modified foods on the planet but an old bear doesn't taste that great it's better off made into jerky...
