If he received the ticket in Milwaukee and he's pulled over in Lansing, then Milwaukee has to agree to extradite him -- and pay the bill for doing it - which they're NOT going to do for a speeding ticket (or even a careless driving). Heck, he could be pulled over IN Wisconsin and still not be extradicted to the jurisdiction in WI that wrote the ticket, simply because it's not worth them spending the $ to do so (based on the offense and the distance and manpower required to move the offender).

Ah but the closer to the border he is the better chance they will place a hol don his 10-9 (misdameanor warrant). Also 2 hours is nothing for a department to travel to meet a department to hand over a warrant suspect. Usualy they will meet halfway.

It doesn't matter if he's 2 minutes from the border or even IN Wisconsin if the jurisdiction that wrote the ticket/instigated the suspension isn't going to foot the bill to go get him.

As an example: Let's say he's picked up in Iron River, MI (a mere ~7 miles from the WI border). Now, let's say his warrant is out of Madison, WI. That's 296 miles away.
Do you think Madison is going to send a car and officer(s) to drive ~300 miles (halfway, roundtrip) to pick up someone who's got a warrant that was issued for something as minor as a traffic violation, while MI foots the bill to roll a unit and officer(s) for the same ~300 mile adventure? No, they won't. Not for the kind of offense we've been discussing. And this is using your "halfway" claim, which frankly, I haven't seen. I HAVE seen squads make the full trip to PICK UP someone that's wanted by their county, however.

I have friends who were pulled over with a child support warrant and a speeding ticket no-pay warrant - and they were both ~100 miles away. Nobody met anybody "halfway". The department that pulled them over we told to let 'em go because they weren't going to come and get them.

As always, every department is different. However, with today's lack of resources, not many are going to do the "600 mile fiasco" for an unpaid speeding ticket.

Totaly not my point......... Around my area if a warrant is held and a p/u is agreed they will then say, you pick them up here or we meet you half way and make the switch. That is what I mean.

Child support warrants are bull**** warrants in Michigan. Bull**** meaning they are a joke, pickup range is a joke, noone picks them up or holds them for it unless your stopped in the county that has that warrant on file.

Then if he paid it nothign will happen to his Michigan License unless he has a ton of points on it already, and his insurance will go up.
