I was wondering, does the phonetic alaphabet differ from place to place just like the 10 codes do, or is there a "standard" that every department uses?

Thanks Darrel, but it says I don't have permission to access that page.
That's because it is in the supporting members area. The answer is yes, it differs from department to department, country to country.

Ok, thank you both, that's what I thought but I wasn't sure.
Phonetic alphabets vary, but are pretty much standard from place to place. Some places use the civilian version, some use the military version, some use their own version. Those that use the civilian version pretty much stay consistent with this:
Adam
Boy (or Baker)
Charles
David
Edward
Frank
George
Henry
Ida
John
King
Lincoln
Mary
Nora
Ocean
Paul
Queen
Robert
Sam
Tom
Union
Victor
William
X-Ray
Young
Zebra
Maybe this helps, maybe it doesn't. I hope for the former.

McLennan County "Heart of Central Texas" Waco

Some departments may also use the Alpha, Braco, Charlie, etc version.

We use the military phonetics:
Alpha
Bravo
Charlie
Delta
Echo
Foxtrot
Georgia
Hotel
Etc Etc...
Ok, so basically there are two different phonetic alphabets. The "civilian" one which is adam boy charles ect, and the military one, which is alpha brave charlie ect. Ok, thank you greenlead, tpd cadet, and jbu2010, you were a big help.
It is more of a Police Alphanumeric system, and a Military Alphanumeric system. ;)
Don't ask why we use the Military for my PD  And no problem
