Newbie with question

Hey there! Just wanted to let you all know I like the site here. While I am here I need a question answered but dont know where to turn. Here it is:

I have a ex contractor whom has been leaving harassing and threatening messages ever since I stopped doing work for him. I ended up filing a police complaint in which they gave him a phone call telling him to stop calling me. Now, he is going around to different cities..3 so far, and he is filing small claims by giving false information about me. None of the things that he is claiming is true at all. It is though he is harassing and also trying to extort money from me at the same time. I dont even think he would show at court and it is some crazy tactic he is pulling to just cause me aggrevation. I dont know what I should do and he is pushing me to my limits. I knew the guy was crazy and I have never seen anything like this since the movie fatal instict. What should I do with this phsyco and why does someone do such a thing? Could this guy be a threat to my family and what can be done. Is he allowed to make things up like this and is this still considered stalking? Isnt there a law against what he is doing? Please Help!!!!!

If you post this again in the Ask A Cop forum you should get some help. I would move it but I can't but the other forum is the best place to ask a question like this.
