what does a Rap Sheet look like?

I have some questions about Rap Sheets....What does one look like? Does it have a photo, like a mug shot? How does it list charges and what does it say about the charges?

It's for a writing assignment. I've never actually seen a Rap Sheet except what I vaguely remember from television shows but I'd like to be accurate in my writing. LOL

    Thanks for your help!

Hit em up, get em up, spit em up, now
    Tell me what's goin on
It make me wanna holler, cuz my dollars come in ozones
Lone for the break-up, so take off your clothes

    [Chorus]

    [Verse Three: Daz]

Tha Dogg Pound rocks the party (all night long)

The Dogg Pound clique (to drop the cavvy Dogg ****)

Diggity Daz out of the motherfuckin cut once mo'
So grab a seat and grab your gin and juice and check out the flow
I flip flop and serve hoes with a fat ****

Now as the Pound break it down with the gangsta funk
I can see and I can tell that's what the **** you want
So I blaze up the chronic, so I can get high
I promise I'll smoke chronic till the day that I die

    [Chorus]

I have never seen a rap sheet. Can your local PD run one on you? That would show you the basic layout, then you could ask them what an offense would look like if you were to have any.

    LOL. Very witty.

Ok, I suppose I had that coming. Is it not called a 'rap sheet'? I thought that is what it was called once upon a time. Is it called something different now?

    thanks

I never see one either but I heard about the rap sheet, the deaf guy names Rudy Gonzalez, he has a longest rap sheet ever in my city. Now he settles, I guess he's old for now. LOL!

Yeah, it is very witty. But it is still called a "rap sheet" but someone in the music industry like to take the words into the music. Rap sheet is the booking record which have many violations on the sheet. The longer it get, the harder it will be to get a job.

Yo, you be da shizzle for rizzle, T. :D
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.

You should have known you'd get some creative answers for this one. We rarely call them "rap sheets" but rather criminal histories. In my state the ones we run don't have pictures, unless it's a face sheet from Adult Probation and Parole giving us information about a parolee living in our area. The reports we print out have a big disclaimer at the top, "this is confidential information for official use" etc. Then there is identification data- names, aliases, state ID #'s, Social Security #'s physical description, scars/tatoos, place of birth and generally addresses. Following that is just listed arrests or charges briefly with the class of charge (code number and if it is a misdemeanor or felony), arresting agency, case numbers, date, and court dispositions. At the end is probation or parole information/status.

"rap sheets" in my department are known as a criminal history. It shows what crimes you have been convicted of. It is monitored closely by the state, it is in the DOJ database. We use it if we are going to submit to the DA for prosicution. People can't just walk up to a LEO and say, "can I get my criminal history?". Doesn't happen and quite frankly in my department I had to have special clearance before I could run them
Smile, I could be behind you

Criminal histories and rap sheets are 2 different things... at least according to the NCIC terminal.

The NCIC terminal interfaces we use have 2 levesl of criminal histories. One is called "criminal history" (I know! Very novel) and then there is the "Detailed Criminal History - Rap sheet." Yes, it still uses the term "rap sheet".

The rap sheet is a lot more detailed with dispositions, officer badge numbers, etc.

Also, the criminal history query can be run with name & DOB, Name and SOc, name & other numerical identifier. With the Rap Sheet query, you need an FBI number or state ID (though I have always used the FBI number). You usually end up running the criminal history to get the FBI and then use the FBI number for the rap sheet.
