Probation Question For Officer In Florida

Ok, so I am on Probation because of a stupid childish act I did a couple years ago. I am on Felony probation because of the amount of damage done to some property. As you know, Florida now has a "Zero Tolerance Policy" and I got a speeding ticket. I got permission from my probation officer to go out of state to see my sick grandmother in Indiana, and in Kentucky I got nailed JUST entering a 55 MPH zone. My Valentine 1 caught it a mile before, but I didn't listen to it. STUPID. Anyway. I was going 80. He gave me a ticket and I was on my way. I have payed the ticket, but I go to see my probation officer Monday. Is this considered a Violation of Probation under these new "Zero Tolerance" rules? I have stayed out of trouble for 3 years now, and I really don't wanna go to jail. Let me know.

    Thanks

Not a cop but I was on probation.
While on probation the only person in charge of you is you. The only person that can violate you is you. The only person that can revoke your probation is you. Probation officers only do to you what you make them do. Now that you are on probation and you are a felon you must ask yourself, "Who's gonna win?" Are you going to prove to your probation officer and the LE here that you truley are a criminal, scumbag, worthy of nothing. Or are you going to get it together and prove all these people wrong?
Do yourself and me a favor and prove these people wrong.

IMHO, I doubt a speeding ticket is egregious enough of a violation to cause you to be locked up. HOWEVER, I don't know FLorida laws and am generalizing. Plead to common stupidity, take your lumps and get on with your life.

Don't attempt to decieve or hide it from him.

I doubt seriously that a florida PO, with a high caseload, would revoke someone for a traffic citation. If anything, you may recieve some sort of punishment, but as far as going back to prison, quite unlikely.

May wanna try calling the FDLE and asking them to clarify the "Zero Tolerance" policy for you.

And don't worry about someone here stating "you deserve it". Perhaps if you had knocked over a liquor store at gunpoint, but speeding? Not a big deal, simply be more mindful in the future.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Thanks man. Yeah, I don't understand some people on this forum. I just asked a simple question. I didn't ask to be cut down or told I'm dumb or what not. Don't think I know I was dumb for what I did? I regret it more then anything in life. It's totally screwed my whole life up and believe me, I've learned my lesson. I'm sure everyone on this forum has sped before, I just got caught. I deserved it, I'm not complaining about that. My father has been a police officer for over 25 years, and I know if I get a ticket, the officer is just doing his job. He didn't give me a ticket, I gave it to myself. lol. All I ask is before you all judge someone, think about all the times you did stupid stuff when you were younger. Difference is I got caught. I'm payin for it now. Anyway, thanks for the replies that were an answer to my question. And for those that would rather pick a person to death, grow up a little.

    Thanks

a traffic citation is a civil infraction not a criminal infraction. So, your probation is not violated. If that was the case I would have a ton more of arrest! ;)

Go ahead and let your po know, just show's em some respect.

Thanks, Rad Diver. That helps a lot. My PO is really nice. He knows that I don't get into trouble, so I hope that helps. I was planning on telling him, just wanted to know what to expect. Thanks all.

I have not heard of zero tolerance policy, but you probably know better than me. Altough I think that zero tolerance policy is referred to other crimes.
Speeding like Rad Diver said is a civil infraction, not criminal.

But again, like many people said, don't lie about it to your probation officer, and infact you might wonna bring that up to him yourself. Just so he knows whats going on, and that you're not trying to hide anything.
It will also look very professional to do so from you.
(its better for him to hear it from you, than to find out himself).

    Just my 2 cents.

And your two cents is much appreciated! Yes, I agree that him hearing it from me is best instead of me not saying anything and he gets a memo or something saying I got a ticket. I need to keep the trust he has in me as that is what lets me go out of state when I need to. Trust is everything in any type of relationship.

Actually, in PA, a traffic cite IS a criminal violation. Not civil . States are different.
