Unhappy can you still be a cop if you got in a big car accident?

My friend got in a big car accident and his dream of becoming a cop went down the drain. He has always wanted to become a cop and now he doesn't think he can make it. Will he have to wait a long time to get his record clean? He's only 19 years old.

    What happened?
You know the difference between a job and a duty? A job you can refuse to do because it's dangerous; a duty you must do even if it is dangerous.

If you can function through the physical agility test then you should be fine. You should have full function of your limbs, normal vision and hearing, speech, etc.

Do everything the doc tells you to do in order to recover, keep working at it!

Since he apparently has a record from this incident, what was he charged with? If it was manslaughter or DUI, he will have some problems.

He'll just have to work bike patrol.
Joking aside.. It would have to be a serious offense like DUI or manslaughter like Metallic4 pointed out. A simple fender bender where he was sighted for failure to yield or something won't stop him, it might cause a little heartburn, but shouldn't DQ him.

Need a little more detail on what he was charged with.

Sorry, read that wrong, thought you were saying that he was hurt severely and was recovering.

Well I got into a pretty big accident when I was younger. Didn't physically "hurt" anyone, maybe their "ego". I sure hope that doesn't hurt my chances.

What did the accident entail (sp)? I think a lot of people get in accidents, including the Police. Was he charged with a Misd. or Felony?

I had a big accident when I was 17.... I got more tickets before age 21 than I have fingers.... I even stole a G.I. Joe when I was 7. Still on the job!
