Question Afraid of the Outcome. . .

Well lets see. About 4 years ago, I recieved a ticket for driving while license suspended. This was in the state of California. Two days after I recieved the ticket, my parents split up and my father took me with him to michigan. Once in Michigan I was able to recieve my drivers license and have had a clean record ever since. See I was going to pay the ticket and I had planned on going to court, but my father said not to worry about it. I trusted in this(not usuin it as an excuse) and went with him. Well I just recently moved back to California and was informed that I do have a warrant for a promise to appear charge. I'm thinking that was when I signed the ticket. What I am afraid of now, is that I do want to get this taken care of very much, but I'm afraid that I may go to jail. Any ideas on what I can do?

I don't know what to say to you, but try to speak with a good lawyer(spell?). Ask him what are the laws, penalties, so you would be prepared to go to court.

    God Bless you man.

You need to find out what court has issued the warrant for your arrest and then phone that court and find out what steps must be taken to clear up your warrant. If you show up to take care of the warrant, you won't be arrested but if you do nothing, you certainly will.

You need to call and find out how to take care of the warrant and do it as soon as possible, if you dont you will be arrested

Definitely contact the court by phone or something. I would lay odds that it is highly preferred that you settle you situation with them by paying any fines or adhering to any judgments rendered by the court. Jails are over crowded all over the place and I am certain California is in a similar situation. They'd prefer to reserve the jail space for the real bad guys as opposed ot someone who failed to pay their traffic-related fines.

I doubt they'll send a SWAT team to come and get you or anything like that! BUT, if you leave it lay and don't take care of it and if you get stopped by police, you could end up going to jail. It definitely won't "go away" and you'll have to deal with it one way or another.

Contact the apppropriate court about this and take care of it.

The warrant was/is failure to pay fines. A misdemeanor. Talk to a lawyer and get it cleared up asap. You will probably have to appear in court and pay fines and court costs. Small price to pay for avoiding jail.

Thank you all for your advice. I did as you all said and went to the court house and explained my situation. The judge made me pay the fines, warrant costs, and court costs. As it was previously stated, "It was a small price to pay for not having to got o jail. Thank You Again!
