Not sure if this belong here or not.

    Hello,
I am not sure if this belongs here or not, but it is worth a try.
I was wondering what you cops think about drunk driving and if you ever thought about helping victims of this crime by talking to people on-line in a suport group?

You see, I was hit by a drunk driver and became totaly disabled because of someones poor choise to drive drunk. I use to belong to MADD, but they are no longer the group they use to be. Now all they care about is money. I have a suport group on-line for anyone that has been victim to this crime and though maybe some cops would like to come there and talk with us about it. Like ideas about what we as citizes can do to help stop drunk driving, tips on what to do is we see someone who we may think are driving drunk and stuff like that.

I realize this is probably not the place to ask this, but I am at a loss and ned some help.

Thank you so much for any ideas you can give me. You can go to my website and read all about what happened to me because of a drunk driver, and if you find that you might like to talk to me, you can e-mail me from my website.

    Thank you for your time.
    Mysticgal.

you're going to find that most cops agree with the minority of the public who doesn't drink. DWI laws are not tough enough, they involve more paperwork than if someone stole the state capitol, and there are more defense attorneys that specialize in DWI than any other offense.

you'd be surprised that most drunks are average joe citizens with no prior criminal history, which is why DWI laws will never be hard enough.

May I add that the politicans will not allow tougher laws for OWI or DWI because they themselfs are alcoholics. Precisly why they can raise the cigeratte tax and not the alcohol tax. If they raised that tax Ted Kennedy would go postal in Washinton. The U.S. is one of the most Laxed countries with OWI laws.

I agree with you all about our currant laws not being stiff enough. If you really want to see how our "un-justice" system works, go read my website...it will make your skin crawl to know that the low life person that hit me, is still on the run from police (over 3 years now) and they (the da) told me that she is not important nor am I enough to go after her. My life is ruined because of her, and my kids had to suffer as well.....

The first year after the wreck, I had no money, so christmas morning when my two kids woke up, there was nothing under the tree. I had to sit there and tell a 6 and 9 year ols that santa doesn't come to homes of people that have been hit by a drunk driver........so tell me, how would that make you guys feel if it was you? It sucks to say the least..........

I have a friend who is on the San Antonio police department, he works for the dui task force....even he was hit by a drunk driver (while aressting another drunk)..............

Our laws are to protect the drunks, and not us inocent victims. I know that your hands are all tied, but doesn't it make you sick to your stomachs when you hear about us victims not getting any justice? My mother was a sheriff for over 20 years (retired a year now) and even she is saddened by our laws.

If any of you would like to come to our suport group and offer any advise to us, you would be welcomed with open arms. It is an on-line group with MSN. if you are interested, just go to my website and e-mail me from there.

Again, I want to thank each and everyone of you for protecting me and my family. You all deserve the highest honnors our country can give you.

May God bless each and everyone of you and keep you safe always.
