VERY true. My solution would be this "take it to the track", and that is why I posted this thread.

And as far as young, inexperienced riders on the street..they need all the education and training they can get, and that's why I feel that further education is vital before one can ride a modern sportbike. In regards to the above accident...there was a way this could have been avoided...and that's why I'm trying to get some input for this project.

Now..does anyone have any ideas for me to take to get something like a practice-track up and running???? ;)

    Please keep the posts comming.

About the only way I could think of would be, if you have a club, start some sort of private venture. Incorporate the club and start saving money to do it yourselves. Once it's open, offset your costs by charging other people and other clubs to use the track.
I don't know if it would work or not. I used to play paintball and that's how some people I know solved the "where to play" problem.

It is not society's responsibility to make provisions for one person's hobby or actions.

SOunds like you need to go to an EXISTING race track. Nobody ( or a very SMALL minority) is likely to provide property for amateur , non-professional , no written and enforced safety policy bunch of sport bike riders to just race. People WILL get hurt and or killed on the track as well.

Bottom line is that you own a very high performance machine and expect that someone will provide you a place to race off of the street and if nobody is willing to take this RISK, it is the fault of society and you guys will just go back to street racing.

Only the operator of the vehicle can control his speed.

Only the operator decides if he wants to race and break the law.

Only the operator should answer to any death or mayhem caused by racing accidents. Unfortunately, they sometimes involve others.

Perhaps the car driver in the photo was in the wrong , perhaps not but as TX said, what in the world was a 16 yr old doing on a 600 cc sport bike ? DO you honestly think we are going to believe that he is riding it for the gas mileage ?

You want to ride fast ? there could be a cost. The cost could literally be an arm or a leg... or more.

no one is going to just give you somewhere to go. i go to an SCCA high speed track. to rent the track for a day is $3500 and you must acquire a $1,000,000 insurance policy prior to the track day. and that doesn't include wages for track staff. what i do is pay for a driving school and go. they take care of track rental, track staff, and the insurance. i pay my $300 and sign a waiver and off i go.

most race tracks are required to have EMS on scene at all times, high dollar insurance, and then the people who enforce regulations pertaining to track safety. you don't have any idea of the costs associated with such an event. you can't just grab a patch of property and tear it up.

as much as you don't want to hear it and i don't want to tell you, but keep riding on the streets until you wipeout and die. apparently it's a risk you've willingly accepted.

Whether it is a Mustang GT, Porsche, Vette, V6 V-tech Honda or almost any bike of 600 ccc and up , it isn't bought for the gas mileage. Thery are bought for their acceleration and speed. If you wanted a nice looking car you could do so without the hp.

I speak from experience having owned a 440 Dodge and a 421 Super Duty Pontiac. Both are long gone but were quite powerful.
