I couldn't find our AGs comments on this or the exact law to link to but there is something out there that states that having medical marijuana and a card is not alone propable cause for searches.... I believe that our AG suggestion is to back off after seeing the card but they can take the info down for later verifacation.....

    DC says...
I enforce federal law and take your weed. I may arrest you or I may just take your dope and log it in for destruction--my choice.
So, you could choose to leave me my "dope"?
Good thing I live on the Left Coast!!!

Just out of curiosity, how long does 3 ounces last with a person smoking marijuana for it's medicinal value?
Depends, some people infuse it into butter and cook with it which would not last very long. Me, this would last three or four months.

FYI, I had two spinal sugeries, one at C5 and one at L1 both fusions. The last one on my lower back didn't take right so I was on Opiates for over a year, Vicoden, Oxy-Contin, Morphine Patches, you name it I had it. I became physically addicted to them, regardless of what any one says about Opiates, I was there. Wanna know what happens when you are physically addicted to opiates? It takes more and more, a tolerance was built up, so a month supply I could take in a week. What happens when the supply was gone? All my bones ached, bad, I vomited most of the day, had uncontrollable shakes, sweating and bowl movements, herion addicts call this "being sick". My doc and i had a talk about this addiction since I was only 36 at the time and decided to go medical marijuana. I went almost a week and a half "being sick" but got through it with medical marijuana.
I can have whatever pain meds I want and don't get sick with MM.
    Where's the joke in that?
I'm sure some thought the same about alcohol prohibition, heck my sisters dad thought TV was a fad, things change it's called progress and no one can stop that.

This is a very true stmt. BUT, what percentage of officers have no problem when a citizen actually EXERTS his or her rights?

In my experience MOST police officers are not to happy with citizens who EXERT their rights. Most officers take that as a challenge to their authority.

Does anyone disgree with my assessment?

Unless you are doing something wrong as an Officer, why would you look at someone assert their rights as a challenge to your authority?
If you are acting within the law peoples rights are not a problem.

It's the ones who don't know what the hell their talking about that piss you off. And that's only because they won't shut up.

    Hello, corporal716 & DC Law.

I started a thread that makes some inquiries about police discretion. Do either of you have an opinion to offer?

I don't get upset if someone is asserting an actual right. What gets annoying is when people start spouting off "Jerry Springer law". I have had people tell me I have no right to search their house when I have a search warrant, no right to arrest their [brother, sister, son, friend] when I have an arrest warrant, no right to seize their car when we find them smuggling cocaine in it, no right to arrest them for obstruction of justice when they jump on my back when I am arresting their boyfriend, no right to ..., oh well, you get the point. :D
