    Positive Proof ID

I was in the post office today and there was a notice that said you had to have Positive Proof ID to pick up a package. What the heck is that? As opposed to what? Negative ID?

I think it means Picture ID w/ signature..such as DL,employee ID's, some newer credit cards, etc..versus something like a 'bingo club membership card'..you'd be amazed at what some poeple will try to pass off as a legit ID..!

I think they mean a government issued ID. DL, Military ID, Passport, etc.
I can make an employee ID at home.

Sbrad..lol, maybe you can make a 7-11 clerk ID card, but I doubt you can create a believeable employee ID for some of the larger more hi-tech compaines, or those with government contracts / hi-security level employees, that can be used for proof positive ID ..some I have had, have bar codes, scan bars, digital photo images, 3D tamper proof authenticity markers, etc, etc.

I figured it was picture ID. Proof that it was you. But why not then just say picture ID. Has some idiot actually shown up with someone else's ID to pick up a package for them?

LOL - I've got this visual of some slackjawed individual pushing a photo i/d across the desk saying "this is the bloke that's supposed to get it, I'm here on his behalf". ROFL, I've worked in districts where I would expect some people would actually do that!

Why not just bring your DL/Photo ID? I am sure they just want to verify that YOU live at SAID address.

I'm embaressed to present my Departments issued ID. It looks like some grade school kid made it. They are going to new ID's but I don't know when. You would think for a department of over 4,000 they would have something better than type writer and plastic laminate. Half the time I don't think people will believe it if I show them.
