does anyone know what this entails and what would i a citizen be allowed to see?

    i live in springfield ohio

    thankyou

Contact your local PD or Sheriff's Office. Most agencies allow ride alongs, but for exact details you will need to talk to them.

That's one of interesting things I learned about on my RA, that being on patrol for 12hrs can be very tiring. I went on the swing shift (12-12) and when I got home I dropped into bed like a rock.

Ride Alongs are awesome!!, take as many as you can handle & offer to buy the LEO lunch/dinner/coffee for his trouble he he/she would like! Dont be a deadbeat seat warmer, ask to help when its ok, learn all you can & do what your told/asked to do, so your not in the way when your not supposed to be or if things get hairy..this is important!
You will need to check with whatever dept/agentcy your considering. They will want ID & contact info at least & probably have to be 18yrs old or older I would imagine. Some depts will run you thru the NCIC or similar checks to make sure your not on the most wanted list, (no joke, it has happened, just recently up in my area) others may require that you be in thier testing process, before you can get online for one. Eitherway, just call them up on thier Non-emergancy line & ask..its a blast & you will learn alot! Good Luck!

One guy we gave a DUI, he was totally smashed. Got him into the jail and into the room with the intoxilizer. He wanted to talk to his "lawyer" btw he is 24. So he calls his lawyer and answers "hey, mom". Minutes later was asked to give a breathalizer and refused. Refused blood and urine tests. Evidently he needed to break the seal pretty bad, lol. I seen his hand in his pocket kinda looked like he was playing pocket pool, couple seconds later I see this wet spot and hear him say "oh **** it, let 'er go" and stood there and pissed his pants. Allllll over the place...what a mess, I felt sorry for the jailers, lol.

The thought of purchashing the officer dinner has crossed my mind..but here in TX, most places are willing to comp. their meals. Usually, the establishment will take care of my meal too.

Hahaha! 100% of the rideouts I have gone on, the establishment takes care of it. Rather interesting..

We've had situations where we are enjoying dinner and a call goes out over the Sheriffs Office Primary frequency. We immediately look at each other, storm out of the establishment and haul ***.

The officer I rode with insisted that he pay. He said that since all In 'N Outs give cops 50% off, his paying for both was like he was buying one regular meal.

I went on a ridealong with the NYPD last year, thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
