If OJ confesses tonight can he be tried?

It's been going around that OJ might confess tonight on Court TV at 9pm,
my question is if he confesses on tv can he be re-tried?
Are there similar cases like this?

    I know I'll be watching.

NO ! Double Jeopardy applies. Once he has been tried and found not guilty he can NEVER be tried for the same incident again. He could have walked out of the courtroom the minute he was found not guilty and told the world " I killed my wife and Ron Goldman " and there is nothing anyone could have done.

I understand that he has a potential endorsement in the works with someone.

He is " hiding out" in Florida because of the civil judgement against him which Florida does not honor. Most other states would allow his property etc to be seized from the suit.

What about stuff like perjury and obstruction? Out here, we have concealing a crime, offenses like that.

    No dice?

All tied to the original offense. It would have had to come out during the trial. He is now COMPLETELY in the clear as far as Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman are concerned.

    Even perjury? Man that sucks...

Incidentally, does double jeopardy apply to civil law? I don't know much about CivLaw, so can he be sued again if he confesses?

He was already sucessfully sued for millions. He did lose some personal stuff ( Heisman trophy) but "fled" to Florida which is one of but a few states that does not honor civil judgement drom other states.

OJ still owes 30 million for the civil case but has not paid one cent. The only money he has comign in is the 500,000 a year from his nfl pension retirment and they cant touch his pension by law, so financially he is fine too.

OJ is a scumbag. I watched some of that interview with Katie Couric, and I was disgusted by his comments. Why in the world would he admit guilt? He is living on top of the world.

Can't say for sure but with the criminal case gone I don't think it would go far. I think it would have already happened but what evidence would they use since he was cleared ??

Statute of Limitations is up on all of his crimes except the Homicides. And the Homicides can't be tried again because of the double jeopardy rule.

I'm going to disagree here. I think if he make a confession that he killed them, he could be charged by the feds for violation of their civil rights. Do you guys remember what happened in the Rodney king case? They were all found not guilty by the state courts, but were then charged with by the feds and they were found guilty and went to jail..

Yes he can be charged by the feds for civil rights violation. It is a different charge and venue
