Does the sheriff's posse rodeo count? Every year in Orange, TX, right off of HWY 105 and HWY 62.Originally Posted by txinvestigator1

In the county I live in, just east of Dallas, she'd get deferred adjudication on the DWI. Everything else would be dropped becqause she plead to the DWI.
Our judges and prosecutors don't believe in clogging up the the criminal docket with " unnecessary " charges and don't believe that police can be assaulted.

Would that be Kaufman county? I have heard stories from a deputy I know in Ellis county, who use to work in Kaufman county..
According to him, the pending docket is stacked so high, they actually gave some guy 10 years probation for INTOXICATION manslaughter. What's up with that?
Do they need a new district?

Nope, not Kaufman County, but pretty close. I was being sarcastic about trying to keep the criminal docket low. The basically just don't seem to care. But I have seen serious offenses like Intoxication Manslaughter get settled for deffered adjudication.
I had a gotten a warrant for a dude for Intoxication Manslughter a few years ago. He got arrested on my warrant in Dallas County by a DL trooper when he went to renew his drivers license. He subsequently escaped from the DL trooper. He was charged with Escape in Dallas County and went to trial. On his Escape charge, he got 99 years since he was a habitual. The Dallas County ADA pulled me aside after the trial and asked if she could ask my DA to let my charge drop in lieu of her conviction. She was afraid if my DA went to trial or tried to plead him out, it would jeopardize her conviction if the dude appealed. I told her I had no problem at all. She had gotten more for her charge than I ever expected to get for my charge.
