    old traffic warrants

    Background:
A friend of mine was put in county for driving on a suspended license which she didn't know was suspended. So I went down to the jail and dropped down my 500$ to bond her out, at which point the deputy said to me
"thats nice for her but what are you going to do about you?"
I was like WTF? turns out I had 4 warrants from very old traffic tickets I did not even remember gettings (registration etc from like 6 years ago) all in different county PCTs.

I went to a bailbondsmen and dropped another 300 on my stuff and got all my new courtdates etc, had all my warrants pulled, when I went back to the jail to hand them over so my friend's bond could go through, they threw me in jail saying they were JP warrants and I had to do an "In-and-out" which of course took like 12 hours.. not much fun at all.

Anyway fastforward to today. My wife was driving my car and was pulled over because there was a warrant on the plate. So now I am scared as to what the hell it is and how I can get this fixed without getting pulled over with my kids with me etc.

I called a few bailbonds people but none have been able to find anything. How can I straighten this out?
Is it routine to randomly run plates?
Will they actually come to my house to arrest me for a traffic warrant?
Can I just call the courthouses to get the warrants lifted/courtdates set?
I don't want to go to jail even if it is in-and-out and I don't feel like the bailbonds people are on my side really.

    Location: Houston,TX

Any advice would be most helpful

    Cliffnotes:
    Had old warrants.
    Fixed those.
    Looks like I have more.
    Don't like jail. help.

Sounds like you have responsibility problems. Just call the Sheriff to pick you up, take care of them and get it over with.
Yes, randomly run tags all of the time. Yes, come to your house for any warrant.

Don't like jail? Don't do anything that could possibly have you attend regular sessions of it.

BTW, you can't just call the Clerk to have warrants lifted and court dates filed for you. Be a man and get it over with.

    Ignore the above.

In Texas, each jurisdiction maintains its own warrants. In Harris County you have the Criminal Courts, the City Of Houston Municipal Court, and all of the Justice of the Peace Courts.

You would have to check with each court to insure there were no warrants.

There is a one-stop place you can check, but it requires that you go to a LE agency and ask them to run you for warrants. The problem with that, for you, is that if there is a hit you will be promptly arrested.

    Tough spot. Good Luck

Thats my issue I guess. There are so many Justice of the Peace Courts that checking them manually will take a good deal of time. I know I can bond myself out at the location and thumb-print the warrant without undergoing the whole custody thing.

The problem is when I was released from County for the In-and-Out they check for other holds/warrants etc... but I don't think they check everything...So do you think a bailsbonds person has the best chance of finding any of my other old stuff from when I was as acreature put it "having responsibility problems"?

I just don't want to get picked up for some 7 year old warrant for some random precinct..go to jail..bond out..set court dates.. then get the charge dismissed.

Abrubt and rude, just like the post you made towards the original poster. I don't PM newbies who don't know how to act. It callls for a public flogging.

If you don't want to make enemies, knock off the arrogant posts.

    Please don't PM me again.

Flog away then Bud. I'll respect your wishes as to not PM'ng you, b/c I have a little respect. Obviously, you do not. Newbie or not, you could grow up.

Alright assweed. I was going to leave this alone, but you can't seem to do so. You PMed me and I responded. YES EVERYONE, ABOVE IS THE CONTENT OF PM'S EXCHANGED BY THIS PERSON AND ME.

Don't you DARE come on here and attempt to chastise me for being abrupt and rude to you AFTER YOU DID THE EXACT SAME THING TO A NEW MEMBER SEEKING ADVICE.

I suggest your stay here will be short lived if you do not change your ways.

I wouldn't exactley call it a member seeking advice. Rather a person seeking a way not to get hooked for the persons screw ups. There are persons on here all of the time, registering and then seeking an out for a violation..never to be seen again.

Assweed? again, I say grow up.
Short lived huh? I've been here a little while, just reading. If you disrespect evryones opinions like this, maybe there is a reason you're a "former"
If you are referring to me maybe getting banned/suspended or whatever.....Maybe this will happen due to your arrogance. But it will occur with me proving a point, and not by lowering myself to childish name calling.

To txinvestigator1: Thank you very much for the post, it helped a little.

To acreature: I'm not sure if you are in Law Enforcement or not. But the general public, i.e. me, finds the whole municple/city/state traffic/court stuff pretty damn confusing. So I don't think my question was stupid at all. Depending on who you talk to a different levels of the system the answers tend to vary as to what you can or can not do.

EDIT: btw. I have a friend who was formerly in the Harris County Sherrifs Dept and a high up member of the FOP, he recommended I try here to get some advice. He dealt with stuff that blows up not traffic warrants.

That would be the reason I don't work for a city/town.... There is enough gov't as it is, and I am happy with County work.

BTW, my post to you was not meant to be rude, but merely a quick to the point way for your problems to end. Yes, I am jaded by this job.

I would suggest that you sit on the side-lines until your number is called. 21 posts is not what I consider "seasoned". Hold off on being the REAL POLICE Parliamentarian until you have at least 100 post under your belt.

No, I do not think this is an uncalled for statement.......... With several violations that the original poster cannot remember? I hjavent received any tickets since I was 18...... 15 years ago, but I still remember all three of them.
