    running license plates?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

to keep it short: kid rear ends me while i was waiting to turn on red. wave for him to pull over but drives off like nothing happened. i get his plate # and pull over to check for damage. there was none so i didn't call the police. today while driving with radio off i hear a creaking noise but i don't know if it's new because i always listen to music while driving. i would like to get this kid's address in case a problem comes up because of him hitting me. i am sure he would rather pay out of pocket than get in trouble for a hit and run plus i don't want an accident on my perfectly clean record. i am also having a hard time trying to sell my car and having an accident on it's record won't help.

is there a way for me to get his address from his plates? will the dmv run his plate number for a charge?

and of course i wouldn't be opposed to an officer on here running it for me :D .

    i live in florida btw

No one here is going to run a plate for you. And once you leave the sece you pretty much muck uo any chance of pursuing a claim against the other driver.

Well, luckily for you, in Florida, I believe anyone can run a tag if they go to a tag agency and pay the fee. If it is not one of the ones that someone has paid not to list, I think they will give it to you.

I know you can pull Florida tags up from data mining companies for a fee. Why don't you try that?

Here in NH due to the Private Information act of '97 we can't give you that info. Here you have to fill out a Self Reporting Accident Form and then send it in, and you include the plate #, and the state will take care of it from there.

You can find them online. Many allow a pay per use and some require a membership. Run an internet search on data mining companies. Or go to Autotrackxp.com. They are one of the bigger ones.

Down here.... It's useless to ask...
I just finished a course about confidentiallity of our system.... trust me they warned us bad.... should anyone ever use the system to any other purpose then LE duty.... Severe sanction would follow...

And the information is to be treated strictly by police officer with LE motives backing up the request...

I'm not suppose to check my neighbourg... my new babysiter or any body unless it is for Police investigation purpose...
Actually we all think that they pushed it a bit too far....
As for your request... I don't know in FLA.... but down here you would get crap....
