Sorry, couldn't resist.
No college here. I went to work after high school (I was married at 19), until I could go to the academy at 21.

The most necessary ability that a LEO needs today is common sense.
EVERYTHING else can be learned by college, military or OJT.

Some are of the opinion that requiring a university education limits the pool of candidates. I agree with that proposition. Also from a purely practical point of view if a police agency in my country (Australia) did that it would find that it would be competing with other professions and occupations that are also offering places to university graduates. We are encouraged to go to university on a part-time basis after we graduate from the Academy.
Nothing to say - taking the Fifth.
PF , ask around and see what university offers the best program you are considering. I personally recommend any degree you wish to major in , with minors in pychology(you will constantly be attuned to the way people 'think').
However, keep in mind that many of the best opinions in these boards majored in something unrelated........or, attended armed forces instead of college.
I have enough credit for a business associates. I always thought CJ was a waste of time and money. The best law enforcment school I went to was the Leadership Command College of Texas. The city sent me to it and the state picked up the tab.
I'm the cop you see when you don't want to see a cop
Border Patrol doesn't require college and didn't reward me for it either. One of the agents in my class at the academy used her prior work experience to get in (she was a waitress?!?).
and just in case it matters, I have a B.A. in International Studies.
I just wanted a degree to fall back on so if LE wasnt for me. It had nothing to do with my hiring.
