    Possible Illegal Activity

I was out scouting last week in the Sacred Zendik Hunting Grounds and came across a couple of scraggley looking dudes who had set up an extensive camp in a no camping zone. Their reaction to me seeing them was soft of hostile, one guys grabbed something and seemed to use a tree for cover while the other gave me the mad dog stare. I left, quickly.
I went back a couple of days ago and they were still there and the camp was built like they planned for a long stay. There has been problem with Meth cooks making meth in the woods andf being that I've seen my share of meth head scumbags I'd say that these guys fit the profile.
While I have had a new founded respect for the LEOs at this forum I still have a problem with the local LE here where I live so I'm struggling with making the call. How can I do this while staying anonymous?

First, make an ATM withdrawl, and purchase a pair of gloves, then go 150 miles south and purchase a ski mask. Then, rob an old lady at gun point, and take her credit card. Travel another 150 miles west, and purchase paper an ink jet printer, and a box of self adhesive envelopes at the nearest office supply store, utilizing the old lady's credit card. Then, travel home, type a letter to the police department, explaining the situation... Purchase self adhesive stamps, then travel at least 25 miles from your home, and mail the letter.

If you want to do it without felonys, just mail the letter!!

Zen, why don't you just call from a pay phone and tell them that you wish to remain anonymous?

That could very well be the first step of a new good relation with your Local Enforcement officer....

Why don't you call one of the investigator(then set up a meeting in a discret area if you don't want to be seen at the station)... I mean you need to talk to one of the cop that you trust.... Not the one that always give you a ticket when he sees you!!!!:D

I'm sure that any decent investigator would take the time to verify the information you give them and would keep your name confidential...
I would.... Should they screw up... you'll tell everyone that they can't be trusted and they would loose all their informant...

I have had my share of informant in my 9 years dealing with Inuits in Northern Quebec... I can tell you that never ... but never I would have gave away a coded informant. And yes.... they were drug users!!!!
All the informant that got to be known by the public where because.... they could not keep it for themself...

Trust me if an investigator can get a good case(then look good for making a nice bust) he will be glad to listen to you and your observations.

Anonymous info are not getting much credibility from LEO.... It may work but it may be just thrown away if they are too busy... Any good investigator would take it seriously if one takes the time to report it in person.
Just don't tell the cop that does'nt like your face on an every day basis.... talk to one that you can trust.... There must be one ZEN:D

    It wasn't with Law Enforcement....

One time, years ago, I made a complaint and was told
    that I would remain anonymous.

What happened day(s) later?? They sent me a letter at
my home address with their own information in the return address...business name, address and so forth.

Just make a call and tell them you would rather not give your name. Tell them what you told us in the tread about their behavior and that it is in a no camping area. They will not run right out there, but they will get to it eventually.
How come your house has wheels and your car doesn't?

Go in person and ask for teh narcotics officers or unit. Explain what happened in teh past and that you don't want it to happen again. Ask about "Confidential Informanats." We usedthem here and some are just citizens who hear the right thig or see it and others are low lifes. But either way, we alswasy say Confidential Informant "John Doe with an address known to this department stated...."

Call your local DEA office, ask for the duty agent, and tell him what you saw. If you want to remain anonymous, just tell him. Chances are, just calling in information, your name would never come up anyway. If you ask him, he will keep your identity confidential.

Call it in. I'm not saying they are going to send a CLET team storming out there, but it might tie into something they are already working on or that they have received other informaiton on.

So send them a DETAILED letter with all of the information in a professional manner. Don't include your name and at best concoct a new yahoo email address for them to conract you back with any questions.

When I get " tips" in the mail, the nicely typed ones make me think of someone credible, the crayon on note book paper dont.
