It shouldnt take a brain surgeon, or rocket scientist, to figure this one out.
Habitiual speeder + potential loss of company car = blame transference. Not guilty for any reason.

Go to Court. Bring your arguments and your witnesses. Let the Judge decide, that's what Judges get paid for.

BTW where was your radar detector during this incident?

MCSAP- I wouldn't be asking police for a recommendation if I wasn't positive I was in the right. Now, one of your fellow frat officers made a mistake, so I'm asking the people that have been in this experience for some assistance. If you don't want to help me, that's fine, but mocking me for looking for advice to help protect myself in a situation that was indeed not my fault, and a mistake by a police officer, is not necessary. Getting advice on how to allow justice be served, I believe, is a purpose of this website, is it not? If it isn't, I'll be happy to ask another board someplace, that being the case. However, as I said, if you don't wish to help, I place no anger towards you, but please don't obstruct my ability to free myself from false accusations.

SGTBEAR- While I totally believe there is a case of transference in many civil and criminal cases, this is not one of them. I do not at this point have a company car, I'm looking into accepting a job where I have to have a clear record. So, I have zero reason to lie about this. All other tickets, I accept blame for as I was indeed speeding. I paid them immediately, was curteous to the officer, and he was curteous back. That seems to be the purpose of the police force. Protect and serve. Officers have protected others by serving me speeding tickets in the past. However, this case is not indeed an easy in easy out easy solution. Prooving an out-of-state false ticket is not an easy thing to do, so I'm told, and so I realize. So, I'm asking those who have been there for advice. No radar detector, as they are stupid, and illegal in DC, where I visit on occassion.

TO ALL- Thank you for the assistance. I understand many of you are police officers, and its not always a fun thing to do, especially when a fellow officer does make a mistake. Now, everbody makes mistakes, and I hold no resentment for that. However, I feel that the judicial system in this country needs to recognize that on occasion, this mistake could be made by the police officer. That's fine, also, so long as justice can be served and the allegations will be dropped. I have no problem with the time it takes to make this happen, the day of work that I will have to miss because of it, and the costs and time associated with going to court on such a trivial case. It is inconvenient for me, but that's alright because mistakes do happen. Now, if you have words to help, that's great, I appreciate that. If you want to tell me that I'm lying, that's fine too. If you don't want to believe me, great. However, this is the same issue I will have to battle in court so I'm really not in the mood for it. So, to allow police officers a better public image nationwide, just hold those thoughts to yourself. It isn't going to affect you to not say anything but it does put a bad image on an officer for automatically not believing a citizen. You are here to protect and serve citizens, cities, and states, not to mock those who are your constituents. Thanks for the help thus far. Peace.

When a cop pull you over.... it is because he is positive that an infraction did occur and that you are the one that did it....

I don't know any cop that pulls over people having in their head that "may be it is him that was speeding"..... I don't know any cop that does'nt trust his radar gun to give an accurate reading.
When someone is pulled over for speeding it is following a "visual observation" of the speeding, then confirmed by the radar gun to provide an accurate speed of what we visually saw.

Now knowing that the cop that pulled you over is convinced that you did the infraction he pulled you over for..... What is your best chance to get out of it????

Being smart and going to him because he threw a cigarette out by the window!!!!

What was the purpose of your intervention toward him??? You were not seriously thinking that he would say"Ho god I'm sorry you got me there I'll cancel the ticket!!!" If your not a LEO then don't try to enforce laws. You were looking for trouble your lucky you did not get more then your speeding ticket.

Next time .... just stay calm... mind your buisness ... don't answer questions if you wish and fight the ticket in the appropriate court house.

Good luck with your court appearance.... but as other said don't expect too much.... get a good lawyer. Court is not your everyday thing to do.... there is rules and ways to establish if a mistake did happen... You better get someone that knows how it works.

As MC said.... you ain't gonna find anyone here that can help you because we are all doing the same job and we still beleive that when an offcier is handing over a ticket.... It is with the proper justification behind it... Most of us will naturally beleive that you did the infraction!

Court are there to listen to your argument.... I don't think a police forum will give you the answer you are looking for!!!! :D

Alrighty, thanks you guys. Some of you have truley revealed yourselves as to what you think is "the right" in the system. I'm not an idiot, and I'm not a smart ***, and in this instance, I'm not speeder-boy. I'll take life as it comes to me, no problem, and if you guys really wonder why some folks have very little respect for police, there's quite a few great instances right here. People are taught at a young age to go to the police if you have a problem. And as a wise man once said, who's going to police the police? Well, it looks like there's some guys in here that could use some assistance with that. Please, take a look at one of your fellow officers, and you're right, I'd say 99.9% of the time they are right. Well, here you go guys, I'm that .1% and the best some of you have is to mock me. Well, great justice here in the country then, right? Thanks for the support. You don't know me or a thing about me. But rest assure, the image you tar other helpful officers with is a disgrace. It sickens me that they ones that are constantly correcting mistakes cannot admitt to a mistake in this case. That's sad to me. I admitt to my past mistakes, and yes, I've got tickets on me when I was speeding. Yup, it happened, and I ADMITTED TO THEM. So, what some of you police officers are saying is extremely appaling to me. You are 100% sure you never make a mistake because you wear a badge? You're right all of the time, huh? I'm tagged from that distance and I was the "fastest thing in sight?" DC, wake up and get a hint that the badge and uniform you wear doesn't cover the disgrace you put towards all police officers. You want to tell me to be a man? A man can admit a mistake, and I admit, I've made mistakes. You, on the other hand, have such a high vision of yourself because of the authority appointed to you that you cannot see that you, indeed, may just be wrong this time. I know, sounds crazy that a person such as yourself who has gone through police schooling and been sworn in as a police officer could be wrong, but take my word for it, which is as good as any honest mans word, the police officer in this instance was wrong. Believe me, don't believe me, but I'm asking for assistance, not pissing contest. Zip it up, put it back in the pants, because I'm not interested in what you got. To those that did help, thanks. I will be in court, and I will win, and if I do not, I will appeal. I will hire an attorney, and I will take it as far as I can, even if it is more costly, mainly so one more police officer can be an example that he was indeed wrong, just as some of you disgusting officers are.

Ah yes, also, a laser can indeed spread to 5 feet at that distance. Its simple physics. You can figure it out on your own with some simple trig and angle measurements. I've done it in labs before, not to mention software that I'm using at present that figures these types of problems out. Look it up, investigate it, and you will see that its true. I can promise you that as well.
Peace, and thanks to a select few who are actually caring enough to try to make a difference, haven't gotten their authority stuck in their mind, and are tyring to protect and serve the fine people of their communities.

You will be 99.9% guilty.... and .1% not guilty....

I sure hope you make it all the way to Supreme court.... Get a good lawyer... an expensive one as well!!!! They are the best!!!

Now don't forget to tell the judge.... I've pleaded guilty to 25 before so this one should be free !!!! I'M THE 0.1%

Don't forget your honor.... I'll fight till I die !!!! I sincerly beleive that I should get off the hook remember.... 25 paid = 1 freebe.... That 's the way I hope you'll figure it out.

And if you happen to find me guilty.... I'll probably lack respect to you, your Honor. I did it as well, in a police Forum where I seeked help and did not like the answer of a respectable member. Figure it out your Honor ... He told me to move on with my life and would not believe my story.... So I deliberatly lack respect to him because he would not beleive me.... It was not my fault if I chose to tell my story in a police forum instead of telling it to you in the first place... God I would have wished that other LEO prove me right and start going against each other.... It would have been so fun!!!!

So keep in mind your Honor ... I'M the ONE ... The 0.1%... please give me a break I always say the truth and pay my fine (25/1)

:p I'm not trying to be disrespectful here TJ but the least you could do is respect senior and veteran member that are straight forward.... Remember we've seen other excuses before and yours are not so different then others... You chose the wrong forum to get help.... And if you were told to go see the police when you have a problem... You sure misunderstood that this would not apply to speeding tickets(court is the appropriate place). We solve tons of problems every year... each ticket is a problem to whoever receives it.... You really tough that elaborating, what you call, an injustice in a police Forum would bring you sympathy?
You got a straight answer(GO TO COURT) deal with it!!!

Now again ... Good luck in court!!!:D

You were doubtless stopped because you were the fastest thing in sight. Suck it up, be a man, and take what you earned.
These quote come from police officers. I'm not being disrespectful to these posters, I'm telling it the way it is. I work with customers all of the time, and if you told me something about my business, you being the customer, how would you feel if I mocked you and said that the way that I always do things is always right? Either many of these fellas are the bottom of the barrel officers, or there's a democratic agenda that has yet to be uncovered, or is just accepted throughout. When I say what you are telling me is a disgrace to the police officers who are trying to make a difference, then that's purely opinion, not disrespecting someone. But some of you fellas got your attitude so ridiculously shoved up the ace that you've forgotten that you are appointed to serve your customers, just as I serve mine. But I'm sure these statements are washed away by your blind confusion that you are far superior to the common citizen. I mean, hey, you can write me a ticket, claim its foolproof, and go around mocking the people who are dissatisfied with your service. Tell you what, next time you stop into the bank I work at, and apply for a loan, I'll say no, your credit is too poor. You have errors on your credit report? Well, they may or may not be errors, but I don't care because I've already turned you down for a loan so that's the way its going to be because I'm the banker and you're just some low-life trying to get a loan, right? Strange that because you're police officers you think you have a different relationship with your customers just because you're out "fighting crime." Well, some of you have been great help, thank you for doing your job, some of you have been totally disprespectful of other police officers and setting an example of why many people do not look at police officers with respect. You write us tickets, we know you're sometimes wrong, but because you have a badge, you're allowed to be wrong because, hey, the court is going to back you up. And you know it, and I know it. So, who cares. We don't have to admit we make errors because, hey, who's going to tell us to stop. Can't wait till one of you have poor customer service someplace. Hope they treat you like trash, then mock you. Good luck to all.

Oh, and I suppose that the officer flicking the cigarette butt near me was okay for him to do too because he's a police officer and is allowed to do so. Sure, why not. CODERED, you make me sick. Get a life, buddy, because the helping people thing isn't quite working out too well. Peace

TJdolt, I am not a cop, but even I can see that you are the one being disrespectful to the police officers here. Life is a *****, and you were given the cold hard facts from law enforcement officers. You don't have to accept their words if you don't want to. Remember though, you came here looking for advice...

Why is it that people always come here with blinders on? Obviously they have it set in their minds what they want to hear, and when they hear something different, they SNAP. I am certain there is a psycological term for that, but I am not a doctor; therefore, I don't know what it is.

Great then, thanks guys. Advice, you're right. Looked for advice. Didn't have any ideas what I'd hear, just came here and found that you guys are always right and never wrong. An answer to any of the questions is NOT Police are always 100% of the time right. I asked what I could do. I got a bit of advice. Then, people started telling me I was lying and that I have to suck it up and be a man. If any of those guys were men, they'd say, "Hey, $hit happens, and the cop may of been having a bad day, may have aimed wrong, may have made a mistake." Instead, I get "Nope, you were speeding buddy, because we are the police and we say you speeding from our laser gun, so it was 100% postive you." So, there's my adivce, eh? Bend over an let a man in blue stick it where he wants, eh? Yup, came for advice and what'd I get?Well, a bit of advice and a few of the "good guys" shoving there false ideas of what really happened, cuz, hey, a cop said he did something, so he must have done it. I'm not going to trust this guy whatsoever. So, thanks. No towel needed to leave, obviously a bunch of low-lifes chillin in here waiting to talk cop to other cops because they didn't get enough cop talk at work. Well, that's fine... I'm gonna go do some bank talkin. And if you ever need advice on banking, just let me know, and I'd be glad to help you, no matter what I think may have happened, because I'm just a trusting kind of guy. Peace.

Many court in this country have already stated that radar gun are accurate 100% if operated by a qualified LEO. You want to beleive they are not.... Spend your banker money to a very good lawyer and soon you'll be the one needing a loan... !

I guess that this may be hard for you to comprehend but we will side with the officer and NOT you. If you think that a LEO made a mistake, GO TO COURT. The officer will have to PROVE you guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, you don't have to prove a thing. I LOVE people that represent themselves in court. I get to object when they try to cross examine me and when they try to testify, a LOT.
