Opinions are what we call 'subjective'. In my opinion, yes, it IS ridiculous to tell someone to purposely NOT look at other people/drivers and the non-driving activities that they are engaged in WHILE driving their car.

She is consumed about what other people are doing, and that WILL affect her driving.
Again, opinions are subjective. YOU may believe that she is 'consumed', but I don't read it that way. A pet peeve is just that - something that annoys you. It doesn't (necessarily) mean that one is CONSUMED with it, just that it pisses one's self off.

You twisted my post, exaggerated my meaniing and you know it. I never implied that one should drive with blinders on.
    You said (and I quote):

"It seems you are really concerned with safe driving. Thats good. Perhaps instead of peering into other vehicles, you could watch the road. After all, all it takes is a split second of distraction and SPLAT goes their car."

What part of "... instead of peering into other vehicles, you could watch the road ..." did I misinterpret?

If I had a pet peeve that included too many orange construction barrels or too many billboards on the freeways, would you suggest that I not look at construction barrels or billboards while driving? "Tunnel vision, Son, tunnel vision! That's the ONLY way to drive!"

Your gross misrepresentation of what I wrote WAS ridiculous.
Please explain what I misrepresented (e.g., cite your words from your message) and how I misrepresented it (e.g., cite my words from my reply). Thanks!

I really did not mean to sound like I was attacking you at all. I doubt you are public enemy number one when it comes to traffic violations. I bet you probably are a more highly skilled driver than most yahoos out there. Considering I don't know you, lets give you the benefit of the doubt.

I do not think I am off base in what I said when you consider it as a general statement not necessarily directed at YOU. Think about all those traffic accidents you stop from happening. What are those people doing when you stop the accident from happening? What would they say when you asked them why they were doing this or that? I bet that a good portion of them would say that they are a good enough driver to do that stuff. That they are confident in their skills.

Now, is what I said really that offensive?

Oh I am not mad...I just have grown a deep deep hatred for a generation that drives like **** while I get raped in insurance, all the while stopping their accidents...or at least stopping them from hitting me. Don't get me wrong...I am fair...If it is an idiot that looks about my age...I let them know they are number one too, but half the people my age don't get up as early as I do...hell if they even work. LOL

It takes me 10 minutes to get to work...I leave 45 minutes early in the morning...You'd think others could take this kind of personal responsibilty so that they don't have to drive like maniacs and misuse lanes and cut in line and on and on and on. I apologize for taking your post personally if that is not how you intended.

I would really like to know how you decided that I was "consumed" hunting down people on their cellphones. You could say that I'm consumed with my personal safety, but I don't peer into every car to see if I can "catch" somebody on their cell, nor do I take pictures!

I can agree to disagree to a point, but that's as far as I go. Accusing me of being an unsafe driver because I'm concerned about my personal safety when other people break the law is way harsh. I only let it bug me when I can get home and vent to people (not that this is me venting -- consider yourselves lucky!). I guess I just wish more people had respect for the laws that are made to protect them from their own stupidity in many cases.

I don't think we should have to wait until an accident occurs: injuries, property damage, possible lives lost, to wait to enforce a law designed to help PREVENT accidents from occuring. I have seen troopers pull people over because they were on their phones and I've gotten a good laugh about it. BUT I'm not about to call up the troopers on my phone (I don't even have one) just to get the other guy in trouble.

Maybe there are some State Troopers or other LEOs out there that can let us know what steps are being taken to reduce the number of people driving on their phones?

No law in PA to prevent one from yakking and driving. Best related bumper sticker I ever saw was " hang up and drive" or " your car is not a phone booth-hang up! "

If ANYONE is driving in an unsafe manner for ANY reason, feel free to SAFELY report them. Understand that it is not always easy to catch up to you/them in time and it isn't worth your safety to follow them all over creation.

Baby boomers drive like this? Maybe a few suffering from mid life crisis. :p Seems to me it's teenagers and 20somethings who are trying to show off, who dart in and out of lanes and generally driving like maniacs. Hey, don't you know that old farts have earned the right to express themselves while driving? :D J/K

If by expressing yourself you mean using a left turn lane to by pass a back up so that you can cut in the right lane at the light...well...O.k.

Maybe I need to move your neck of the woods.

Can you handle icy conditions? ;) Actually not to difficult once you get the hang of it. You would be amazed how many people here forget how to drive when there is a little bit of ice on the roads. When the snow first hits in the fall it is hilarious. People are swerving all over the place. Especially those in SUVs. It's like people forget that we get 8 months of winter here.

No excuse for rudeness. Rude drivers are a menace at any age. Half dead and rude is treacherous. lol
