When you make a traffic stop(lets say 47/35) is your mind all ready made up ?
If you had planned on giving a ticket, what can a person do to lesson his chances of getting a ticket ? Thanks in advance for the answers....

Attitude is everything..... Officers generally have a lot of discretionary power...
Don't go 47/35.
Hundreds of cars go by me every day, only a few get my attention. DON'T be one of the few.

Unless its a high speed or a serious violation my mind isnt made up. I stop alot of vechicles for the one ot the tag lights not working, bald tires, cracked winshields, no turn signal and improper tag display. Most of the ones I listed is mostly just to stop the car to maybe get some PC to search it or something. On the minor offenses listed i usually dont write a traffic citation unless the driver needs an attitude adjustment.
"I'd rather be hated for who I am than Loved for who I am not"
If I get out of the vehicle with my tickets, i've made up my mind
A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.
You guys are bein kinda narrow minded. LOL I escaped w/out a ticket once cuz I was crying, I was 20 and scared to death.![]()

I have never been able to get out of any ticket...I've never pulled the crying trick or the I am not familiar, or officer please I am riding the crimson tide....Always just shut up, gave him the paperwork he was looking for, But I have always got a ticket.
I was sitting in a residenal area the other day watching a stop sign. We get a lot of complaints from the citizens about people rolling through stop signs in every development. With summer coming, we put more time in the developments to try to slow them down (lots of little ones running around). So the first stop (after about 90 seconds of watching the sign) is a guy in a nice shiny Lexas. I go up and ask for his cards. "I don't have my wallet." He's in gym clothes. I ask him again if he's sure he doesn't have his insurance card at least. He finds it and gives it to me. And he starts telling me he shoots hoops with a state tropper buddy of his. Yeah, he's out of the XXXXX barrack. He even gave me this sticker for my car. He pointed up by his inspection sticker. I never looked at the sticker. He kept asking for a warning or a break. He mentioned his "buddy" three times altogether.
Guess when I decided to give him the citation. At the first drop of a name. And I got four in about an hour's time (fish in the barrel) and all of them live less than three blocks from the stop sign. All had kids. These are usually the ones calling to complain that the cops are not doing anything.
It is better to be thought a fool then to open mouth and remove all doubt.
I've alway gone by the attitude test, unless the violation was extreme or they were such a bad driver they needed the ticket.
How come your house has wheels and your car doesn't?
Honesty and comedy. If you are upfront and don't bs me, i might cut you a break. Same goes for if you make me laugh, preferably not at your stupidity. If you bring the attitude, remember i get paid by the hour, so the longer i have to listen to you, the more time i have to write. btw, i carry an extra box of pens and an extra ticket book in case i should happen to run out.
My wife left me alone with a case of Corona, a bag of limes and the cat. Beer is gone. What will I do with the extra limes and the cat?
How do you know if a person was a member of the military. Do these people just casually mention it? I was an army cadet when I was 16. Would that work? :D j/kOriginally Posted by DC Law
Most everyone gets the ticket. The only ones who get a break are old people, handicapped, minorities, ex-cons who need to get back on their feet, kids, cops, good looking people, fat people, state workers, truck drivers, ugly people, nerds, and cab drivers. EVERYONE else get a ticket...period... and I MEAN it!!!!
Trust me, it's not the jeans that make your butt look fat!
I try hard to not give "comtempt of cop" tickets, so I will make the decision before approaching the car.
But as stated above, some people probably do need attitude tickets.

I dont think I would write cops tickets [Not a 100% basis rule but just a general rule]. As for everyone else, you would really have to prove you had a good reason to have done what you did.
