    Mp

I chose to post here because more people view this subforum than any of the others. I have 3.95 GPA and want to join the VA National Guard when I'm a Junior/17 years old. I logged onto their website and browsed the MOS's but I didn't see Military Police (or at least under "current openings,") whatever that means. I'm a Freshman now. When should I contact a recruiter and when should I take the ASVAB test? What's my chance of getting my preferred MOS? What do MPs in the National Guard do? If you supposedly only go 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year, what do you do as an MP in the National Guard? Thanks.

Take the "Police" part of the title lightly.

You probably won't do much, if any, LE.

Mostly guard duty at various bases and installations. It won't be the most exciting...but if your goal is to be in civilian LE when you get out, its great.

Also, considering your hi gpa, you might want to try for intel. This is one of the more difficult MOS's to get. Ask your recruiter...and hopefully he won't peddle you a load of BS like mine did :D
