Man I'm just cringing listening to these stories :D

Just had a cast iron spike driven through my left arm bicep area three times attempting to arrest a suspect from a stolen car. It happend on 14 Apr. 04 and I'm still off work. Doctors said I just missed my brachial artery by millimeters. Had to persuade the doctors to let me return to my unit on limited light duty. If I can figure out how to do this I will post pictures from my digital camera.
So your saying this guy attacked you with a cast iron spike? Stabbed three times...wow. I see this post is quite old post but howd things turn out?

I thought it was against NCAA rules to get "paid" to play. At least that was my understanding for my scholarship. And by all standards, technically, college is still amateur.
    "Meal money" hehe ;)

How did you break your pelvis? Sounds serious

I was slammed into a bulkhead by a 350 lb. hardened con. Boy, did it hurt. Still gives me trouble to this day. Too bad I didn't take care of it at the time...

mmm, I was in a coma for 5 days, I got seperated from my partner in a 3 story factory fire, when part of the floor collapsed block him getting to me and me getting out. I went through the floor into the basement landing on my back on my SCBA brused my back up good, came out with several lacerations, with all together used a good portion of which required stitches, several 2nd and first degree burns. Had some cranial hemoraging, but surprisingly i didn't do too much to my back and neck thank G*d for people who save alot of crap, it broke my fall in the basement, but i wasn't too keen on being below a fire floor, needless to say i was out cold and woke to find i was pulled out by my partner who slid down a hose to drag me out of the basement. I still would go in again that day was the first day i saved three lives with the help of my partner.

I had a near miss at a detail last summer.

I was directing traffic in a pretty poor lit area, and myself and my "partner" had our traffic vests on, and this is a residential street. This lady comes flying up, and im facing the opposite direction, my partner turns around, sees the car going straight at me and yells "TONY WATCH OUT!" so I turned around and dove out of the way, and got up while the car stopped and told her to slow down, I probably shouldnt have (and lets not turn this into a debate folks) but she damn near clocked me going atleast 50+ in a poorly lit residential area at night that was littered with kids.

    What was her excuse?

"Im from St. Louis I didnt know..."

Sorry about the information given earlier but it's hard to type with one hand and the drugs the hospital is giving me make me feel real good.
The suspect was wanted for driving a stolen car which both the county and the city were tracking via it's GPS system. Even though I work in a narcotics unit we were just down the road from where dispatch said it was. We pulled into the intersection it was stopped at and blocked it in and the suspect got out and ran. He ran towards a cemetary and tried to jump a 7ft. cast iron fence which he was able to do even though I had a hold of his leg. While I was holding his leg, his shirt got caught on the spikes on the top and pulled the back of it over his head. I reached through the spikes and grabbed the back of his head which caused him to spin around wrapping my left hand in his shirt. Knowing he was stuck, he stepped on the bottem of the fence and jumped up and down driving the top spike into my arm three times. I immediately let go and pulled myself off of the spike and ran parrallel with him up the fence line. Patrol units blocked him in the cemetary as my partners ran behind him in the cemetary. Still running with my left arm pulled into my chest I called the foot chase out and this idiot hopped the fence back over in front of me as my very bigpartner had him at gun point. I put him in handcuffs and went to the hospital in a radio car.

First injury was a broken nose at the academy while boxing. I was so afraid of getting washed out I didn't tell anyone.

The worst one was about four years ago. We were doing a raid on a bar in a pretty crappy part of Baltimore during the afternoon before it got too full. As we entered the door, there was a step down onto a concrete floor. I was number two and didn't see the drop and came down really hard on my right knee. I finished the raid out and then it started hurting so bad I had to sit down. I wrapped it in ice from the bar and went home, thinking I had just shocked it. The next morning, I went to the orthopedic clinic using a bed slat as a crutch and was told I had fractured my patela (kneecap) .

Six months of rehab. Another year before I could run again.

What can I say I got lucky, I bounce back well, though my partner has since gone on to that great firehouse in the sky he was one of the 343. I have been shot twice too but that was nothing compared to that fall.

I went on a ridealong a few weeks ago and we were leaving this really run-down apartment building with no outside lights. The cop was behind me and I was exiting first. I went to step outside and forgot there was a foot high step there. I landed hard on my foot, rolling my ankle. I was in so much pain that I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it back to the car around the corner. He asked if I was ok, so I lied and said yes. It got better a little while later, so I wasn't completely disabled.

I got quite a nasty papercut the other day, has anyone ever had one of those they hurt for ages.
A snout has told me he's got a set of nostrils, so go and get a W so we can spin his drum to see if he's got any monkey gear - The Sweeney.

Yeah, those ones right between the fingers suck the most.
Chief Wiggum: This is Papa Bear. Put out an APB for a male suspect, driving a... car of some sort, heading in the direction of, uh, you know, that place that sells chili. Suspect is hatless. Repeat, hatless.
