What skills would be of benefit to help me get accepted. I'll try to get scuba diving license. What other licenses and life experiences would help me to be on top of the list?

Speaking a second language, having a 4 or more year degree, having been in the military ( esp military police) , being very proficient in unarmed defense, not having an arrest file , drug usage or a novel like driving record when you apply.

Search and Rescue is great but perhaps not as popular in the vast plains of Manitoba !!! ( I don't know where you are, just tried picking a large flat province

I am right on the lake Ontario in Toronto
Lots of small lakes and ponds around the city.

Yeah, my sister lives near the lake in Missiagua (sp ?)

Just don't get stuck under the ice in the winter months.

And mscap, you should have picked on Saskatchewan. They get constant ribbing from other Canadians about being a boring province. Manitoba is crazy because of all the running away from mosquito's they do. :D
