Would having ADD Disqualify you fom being able to be a cop

If you won't sign the med records waiver, you won't last long. PD's can't afford to take any chances on new hires these days with all of the lawsuits that can ( and do ) arise. Acknowledge it, know your limitations and if you can pass everything else, I don't see why it would be an issue.

BTW, what exactly would the meds do for you ? And what side effects are there ?

First I already sighned the waver to everything a few months go, it wasnt a option. Second, the doctor said, the meds can be like speed for soemone who does not have add but for someone who has it it will only make them concentrate better.

Also its for one of the bay area departments, and I have already beat out like 130 people so far in the process, I just dont want this to be the thing that nocks me out of contention.

FYI, the medications Ritalin, Dexidrine (sp?) and Adderall are Methamphetamine Salts. They are a controlled substance. However, when properly prescribed, obviously, they are not illegal. There is a more modern ADHD drug that is not a controlled substance, the name of which escapes me at the moment. They advertise it in many magazines.

(College students like the meds because they can stay up to study all night. Of course, they get the meds illegally...)

ADHD can actually be a good thing in many situations. Don't let 'em discourage you--it's always worth the try.
