Motorcycle Cops

So, what do you ride? (On and off duty)
I have noticed a trend (just noticed) that on the east they're riding the Harley's, and on the west its the BMW.
What was your training like for riding witht he department?
Ever been in an on-duty accident? What happened?
I find that when I ride, every guy who pulls next to me at a red light feels he must impress his wife by talking to me. You get the same?

I have, on more than a couple occasions, been either next to, or even riding behind a car and notice a heavy odor of burnt marijuana.... You ever run into that on duty???

Biker cops are mean somehow. Every time I pass by they'd stare at me with so much hate on their faces. Never wave also. Maybe it's because they ride Harleys(for real man :D )...

not out here, the biker cops are the best and most friendly, i talk with them when i see them at 711 and stuff, they are bad ***.

Our department has recently gotten the Motorcycle division back up and running, after being gone for 50 years or so. They currently have HD Roadkings.

they always flip me off. :confused: just because i found your hiding spot and gave you a heart attack with my 90 mph flyby doesn't justify giving someone the bird. that's just not right. :cool:

Motorcops are alsways seen as jerks for some reason. The expression on their face maybe because they are being pelted with bugs, rocks, pebbles, rain drops and other debris. Also a 20 mph wind at 50 degrees feels like 0 to them. They are the same as the officers in a scout car. Sometimes sterotypes just get way out of hand. Motorcops are traffic cops and traffic rules. I just wished our weather permitted the year round use of motors. I know Monroe, MI PD used Harley's year around, in the winter they add a sidecar and off they go. I know guys that ride Harley's and Beemers for patrol and here is what they say.

Harley- can be heard by motorists, maintenance is cheap and far in between, and the nogestilga of riding a HOG.

BMW- ride is 1000 times smoother and easier to handle then the HOG, maintenance is expensive and happens more often, and did I mention the ride is smoother.

Other than riding a sport bike I've done nothing wrong. I think in their eyes I am a stupid kid on a sport bike who does high speed wheelies and other stunts on school properties and highways.

Unfortunately, the stereotype that you mention isn't that hard to back up. Just like someone who pours a ton of money in to souping up a car and than drives at just the speed limit etc.

I too have experienced it. I wonder if its whe whole harley / sportbike = no "interracial love" thing... but Ive managed to become friendly with most that I run into.. always say hi in traffic, strike up conversation if we're both parked... makes all us "ricers" look a little better...
Riding rice is no different than listening to rap music.. If you dont like it, get over it, its just personal preferance....
