kejono3,
And do you think that is fair?

That wouldn't have gotten you far with me. I wrote our former chief's daughter ( while he was still my chief) a parking ticket. He directed us to go to a shopping center and enforce the fire lane. She was one of several there but I would have wrote her even if she was the only one.

It depends on the officer and where you live, I suppose. There are alot of political ties when dealing with AZ Sheriff's Offices =)
I have the opinion that I won't write up another officer or friend/relative/neighbor in many cases. That doesn't mean they get off when it comes to a serious civil violation or crime, but I see it as bad form to write a 5/10+ speeding ticket to someone I know. However, if I get written for a minor violation, then so be it, I still broke the law.
Probably not, so is flashing a badge and getting away without receiving a ticket. Get the notion...Originally Posted by Scruit
I can truthfully say that I have given COMPLETE strangers breaks on speeding etc, I don't mind giving another officer a break as well. Last night we had a local Corrections Officer on his way home ( after stopping at a watering hole) , the new officer that stopped him called me and asked what he should do ? I said if he is DUI, then he is DUI. He gets arrested like ANYBODY else. He was charged. If his BAC is over a .16, he will be visiting his co-workers for a 3 days but from a different perspective.

I had to arrest a Firefighter many years ago. He was off his face and drunk as a monkey at 7.30 am. When my partner and I arrested him he put up a fight, he was so out of it. But we only charged him with disorderly behaviour (not a serious offence) and didn't go with the resist, it just wasn't worth it given his condition, he wouldn't have had a clue what he was doing. It was still a bit weird though, locking up a Firefighter. Now cops and firefighters here aren't as close as they used to be, but back then it was almost like locking up a fellow cop. I felt bad about it for a while but I was new to the job. Now it wouldn't worry me for a minute.
Nothing to say - taking the Fifth.
I won't write fellow officers, firefighters, active duty military, emt's and i usually don't write doctors. If i end up in the ER, i don't want the doc remembering that speed cite he got a year ago. That being said, if you are DUI, rules are out the window. Oh yeah, and kids not in carseats, press hard 5 copies. That pisses me off to no end.
My wife left me alone with a case of Corona, a bag of limes and the cat. Beer is gone. What will I do with the extra limes and the cat?
It seems that every cop has a pet peeve and if I ever become a cop this will be mine. If the safety of your kids is not important to you then maybe a ticket will change your mind (or maybe it won't, but you will get one anyway).Originally Posted by Seand442
