I recently "volunteered" to become the campaign manager for my
city's police captain. He is running against a sheriff of 16 years.
I have no experience coming into this job and neither do the other
individuals on our campaign team. Have any of you helped run
a political campaign or could you put me in contact with someone
who has? Any advice would be appreciated.
I live in a rural county with a total population of less than 12,000
people. The captain has a high percentage of name recognition
and is liked by the majority of people (excluding a few of the criminals
he's arrested). I know it's going to be difficult to persuade enough
people to vote for him because there are a lot of older folks in the
county who are set in their ways and don't see any reason why
we need a different sheriff. Most of the issues that we would like
changed are matters involving the side of the sheriff's department
that the public doesn't know about or understand. I just
don't want to help my candidate spend thousands of dollars on
a campaign and then lose the election in November.
Please e-mail me directly if you wish to contact me. I don't end up
checking my personal messages very frequently.
