I agree with Samuel. You need to see a doctor and hopefully it is just a strained abdominal muscle or something else along that line.

OBP, why don't YOU diagnose it (accurately) for him then?

If you don't know what "caused" it to begin with and it isn't lessening with time, looks like you need a professional opinion from an MD.

I have a few minutes to spare today so let me clarify my position to those who feel my answer was inappropriate or was not worded "nicely" enough.

    1. This is an LE board, not a AMA board. How many of us here are qualified to give "real" medical advice in Person, much less anonymously?

    2. This is the internet. I doubt that Everyone/Everything is the real McCoy. I doubt that Everyone has the knowledge, skills, and experience that they profess to possess.

    3. People have different tolerances for pain. Some will cry bloody murder for a paper cut. Some won't say anything and if/when they finally go to the hospital, they find out it's too late. Which is it in this case?

    4. What legitimate consciencious medical professional would make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment to someone they don't know over the Phone, much less the Internet? If one was willing to, my guess would be that they wouldn't know and/or wouldn't care.

    5. Cause for the above posted, vaguely described condition could be ANYTHING. How about ranging from just plain muscle fatigue to dietary gastrointestinal distress to a muscle pull/tear to a hernia to a tumor to appendicitis, etal etc.

    6. Does anyone know anyone else's medical/physical history? How would the pain rate on scale of 1 to 10? EXACTLY where is the pain occurring? What movements/positions tend to mitigate or exacerbate the pain? What was the person doing when it first occurred? Has the person ever felt that before? Does the person have any previous injuries in that area? How long has the person been feeling the pain? Has the pain been getting worse? Does the pain come and go? What does that area of the body look like? What does that area of the body feel like? ETC!

    BTW, those questions are Rhetorical.

Now, let's see some hands, who here with a conscience wants to be the one to tell D2003 that it's nothing to be concerned about and that all he needs is to exercise more? What fellow hypochondriac here wants to be the one to tell D2003 that he needs to check into the closest hospital for immediate abdominal surgery or he will surely perish? How would D2003 react or respond to either "advice" (or any advice in between)?

Edited to add: If you have no other choice but to turn to the Internet, then try a site like www.webmd.com...

OBP, thanks for your PM, I will respond in just a few...
