    Good PDs near Atlanta?

Hi, I am currently living in a suburb of Dallas, TX. My inlaws are most likely moving out to Atlanta. I am not sure how my wife will take it as she is very close to her family. I am guessing she might want to move out to the Atlanta area to be closer to family. If this is the case, does anyone have any suggestions for departments to apply at? (I am currently not a LEO), although I am looking at applying in about 12 months (here in town, assuming that we are still here  ).

I would like to find somewhere where the pay would be apx equal (if not more) than what it is out here.

The town I was looking at applying to in the Dallas area started off at 43,000, and within 3 years is upto 55,000. I looked at the atlanta police department and they top out at 45,000 after like 10 years. (This seems similar to Dallas salaries - not the suburb salaries).

If anyone can point me in the direction of some towns / cities in the atlanta area that are maybe in the 50,000 -> 250,000 population range, I would appreciate it. Or if anyone has any feed back on the department I would appreciate it.

    Thanks for your help.
    Stay safe.

No dept in the Metro Atlanta area is going to start you off at 43k. Keep in mind however that the cost of lving is a lot cheaper here than in Dallas, and homes are stupid cheap. If you need specific info feel free to PM me.

There are no Metro Atlanta departments paying that high, but like Norm said the cost of living is more reasonable. Dekalb County PD is currently the highest paying. I think they start out in the high 30's-low 40's.
I'm currently in the hiring process with Forsyth County S.O. (north metro). They have a great department, start out at $30,520 and have something like 32 openings. I think they are a coupla grand off the median, but it is an excellent department. PM me if you would like more info.

Most departments in the Metro-Atlanta area start about 30K to 35K. I work for the Henry County P.D. which is south Metro-Atlanta area and we start at 30K. Our population is in excess of 150,000. The cost of living here is cheaper than Dallas and off duty work around Atlanta is plentiful. Our minimum for doing off duty work within my department is $25 an hour with the average about $35 an hour for a four hour minimum or work. My base with my Dept. is around 35K but I easily make in excess of 40K a year with overtime and off duty work.
