I was talking to my friend today and he mentioned that he's wanting to leave his current position and transfer over to another job, he just has to wait for his chief to sign off on it.

He said the name of what he wanted to go to was Major somethingoranother. He told me twice but I've done forgot what it was...again.

He said basically it was to go arrest all the people with warrants and whatnot.

Can anyone help me out on the name?
I'd appreciate it.

In my state that would be a Constable. They have statewide authority to serve warrants and supboenas. They can carry weapons and of course can arrest for the warrants but not for a criminal or traffic offense they might witness. They are independant contractors in that they ONLY get paid when they actually find the person they are looking for.

OK Norm, all you gotta do is LIVE here ( without your Deliverance accent

) , and run for office as it is an elected position. In a lot of municipalities, nobody even bothers to run for the position. 2 weeks of training and you are the "law". I know one of our constables made over 150K a few years ago as we turn over all of our people we pick up on warrants to them. They get the credit ( payment) for arresting them as though they found them on their own. We are free to go look for more people with warrants

nah, not a bounty hunter.

i figured out what it is after searching for like 20 minutes. lol.
I'm pretty sure he said Major Offenders. It's a division of the Houston Police Department under the investigations command.
